Just had to tell some of my friends.

Spent 3 hours at the high school awards night Thursday night. It's the one where they hand out all the scholarships. My oldest daughter, Amanda, will be going to UW-Madison next fall majoring in Forensic Sciences. Anyway, we were aware of two small scholarships that she'd be receiving totalling about 1500. Not much compared to tuition and all but we were grateful for anything that would help her out. The last 2 scholarships awarded are the same, but one is awarded to a male and one is awarded to a female. Well, my little girl received it. 1 years tuition at any UW system school with automatic renewal for a 2nd year as long as she keeps her grades up.

I am so proud of my daughter.

There's an old cliche' that says "they grow up too fast". It's not until you sit down and really think about it that you realize how true that statement is. There are so many things that happen in those 18 years that they all seem to run together. Then one day, they're in high school, then they're driving and all too soon they're off to college. Both my girls will always be "My girl's." But, it does a dad real proud to see them succeeding and moving on in life.

Thank you Amanda for making your dad proud. I love you very much.

Dad

Congratulations!!!

Amen on things happenning fast. They go from diapers to dorm rooms in a blink of an eye!!!

Another cliche is that apples don't fall from the tree. You gotta be proud of your efforts turning out a bright apple!

Congrats to you and your daughter too.
My daughter is only 9, but she has it all planned out.....
"I'm going to go to Madison, play hockey and be a veterinarian."
Just what I was thinking at 9! I was just dodging beatings.
She has never brought home anything but A's and raeds at a 5th grade level in 3rd grade.
If I ever find out who the real father is, I'm sending him a thank-you card.
Doesn't it feel good to feel proud of your kid?
Tell her "Way to go!"

Congrats, however I disagree that they grow up too fast. The aging proccess slows considerably when you get divorced from thier mother, and start paying child support. The Child support agency will bleed you dry quicker than 100,000,000,000,000 mosquitoes.

WOW!!!! That is absolutely wonderful! Congrats to the family and to your daughter, and cudos to your wife for helping you so well in the sometimes confusing process of raising a daughter. My daughter Carrie is graduating this next week in Colorado with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice!! Am I proud of her, or WHAT?? Maybe they will work on the same case some day...

DUDE! Tell the young fishin' peep-ette the assorted Sponges' said CONGRATS! Monica has the "girls" pic on the fridge; know ya'll are proud, and should be. Beav and me are too much alike; dodging the paddle all them years wid no hope for a scolarship! But, that's why we have chillins', to wipe away the mistakes and stupider antics of the previous generation. Add to the fact that Amanda can hold her own fishing, and you have a young lady that would make any Dad beam. Look for Alyssa to be close behind!

Scott,

You know that you and Gail and the girls...and Doc, have become extended family to Deb and I. You have good reason to be proud..of two things, your kids, and your and Gail's examples that you have set as parents and friends to the girls.

Yes, time passes far too quickly, and before we know it, they have grown into being their own person and are leaving the nest, but you'll never quit being a parent and what's more cool is that you become friends with your kids as well as parents.

Scott,

I will be in your shoes before long. My kids are 12 and 15. Both are very good kids and so far have not tested us with anything bad. Lots of storys about classmates that have strayed from the good kids.

I was out yesterday fishing the Pewaukee Classic with both of them. 6:30 am till 3:30 pm. Wind was brutal and it rained some but both of them casted all day. Was I a proud dad by the end of the day. We didn't place in the tournament but recieved some great door prizes and a good meal.

Congrats to you for getting your kids through some of the toughest times in there lives. Job well done my friend. Now enjoy it and lets go fishing.

Scott,
That's some great news, my daughter just finished her 1st year a UW-Whitewater and at $10,000.00 a year all the help you receive is a blessing. But the main thing is the hard work that she put into it. You got a keeper there, put away the money your saving on the education for that future son-in-law, maybe she'll marry a muskie fisherman. Again, She's something to be proud of, your wife must be really smart.

See you soon,

Netman

Theedz, that is way cool. If she has your wife's looks and brains, I hope she has your sense of humor. Stand tall(tall as you can anyway) and be proud!

Mr. Worrall, you too, that sounds way cool. I just got news today my youngest who is in 1st grade tested at a 5th grade reading level. My middle son who is in 3rd grade just passed a state wide math testing with a 96 and only one other person in his class even passed it. The teacher this week made him sit in the hall because she was doing fraction multiplying on the chalk board and he was shouting the answers bfore she even had them done!

You guys are all great! I appreciate all the kind words.

I did print off a copy of this thread so that she knows there are more people than just her mom and I that think she's done a great job.

Thanks again.

First of all, may I say: "SPONGE!!!!!!!!!!!"

There, I'm better. Scott, good going. My son Jon's graduating high school in a couple weeks, going to college next fall. Seems like he's growing into quite a man, he came home yesterday with tales of fishing in his buddy's girlfriend's dad's farm pond and catching two of the biggest bass he's ever SEEN in his life. I'm wrestling with feelings opf being more proud of that than the 12 years of school (what's up with that?). all my best, m
