Location: Liberty, IN (OKI Tri-State) | Well folks it is almost here ... next weekends first ever visit by the Pro Musky Trail to Missouri waters and Pomme de Terre and a great place to try and punch your ticket for this years Ranger/PMTT Invitational World Championship! No kidding, this lake has been flying under the radar for a long, long time; producing both numbers and size for those lucky Musky Hunters "in-the-know" going back to the mid-1960's!
Fairly remote location, in the Soutwestern corner of the "Show Me State", with very limited shoreline development and the proximity of much better known sysytems like Table Rock and Lake of the Ozarks, have helped to keep this jewel less-pressured and very productive. Angler surveys and other studies conducted by the MDC
have shown there to be an outstanding population of muskellunge in the 30-36 inch class, with several strong year classes and numerous fish over the magic "50-inch" mark reported by the local Muskies Inc. Chapter.
Unlike many more well-known systems visited over the past seven years of PMT competition, this water is not dominated by several of the country's Top Musky anglers and Guides. Not that "homewater" is any sort of guarantee when it comes to competitive angling success, some jokingly call it a jinx, rather that this may actually be one of the very best chances for many on this Trail to utilize their "pure skills" or "instincts, such as map reading & interpretation, reading new water, figuring a pattern or triggering reponse tactics. Needing to catch a fish and compete in a minimum of two events .... and nearly full fields in store at "the Chip" and in Eagle River later this year and .... well you can see where I am headed ... yep, I will be at Pomme hoping to claim one of the 50, hard-to-get berths for the World Championship this October.
Add to the mix as well, this will be the VERY FIRST PMT event covered by "North Country Adventures" and Fox Sports Net !!!! How would you look with on TV holding a $20,000 check, trophy and a couple of nice fish while being interviewed .... great I am betting? A little luck and hard work could go an awful long way at this Tournament. You will now be seen across the Nation ... if you can "Get-R-done". Things are changing; history is being made ... right now ... right here, and if you want to be a part of it, well you only have a few more days to sign-up, join the field and take YOUR SHOT ! Put that dream in motion ... all it takes is one phone call ... and you certainly can't get there sitting on the sofa. I did 5 years ago, and it was one of the best calls I ever made in my life. Won't you join us?

Just curious to see if any from this site are heading down to Missouri this weekend to try their "luck" at Pomme? I have never had the pleasure but am really looking forward to it.
I must say that there are an awful lot of nice folks from that area willing to help a first time visitor like me and that in itself means a lot. Everyone I have talked to has had nothing but offers of help, info and just generally "good neighbor" type attitudes, now if the fish are of the same ilk ... welll this should be a good one ... LOL
