Location: Carney, Mi (in da UP eh!) | What is the best way to wash the sparkly finish on the new Ranger 617? I fish a lot of tanic stained waters that was hard to remove from my aluminum Mirrocraft. Is there any home brews out there that aren't to harsh but work effectively? Or what is the best commercial cleaner to use? Thanks Randy |

| I learned from a "more experienced" (read older) friend what he used to do when tourney fishing. Keep a spray bottle of vinegar and water in the truck. If you get a day when you pull the boat out and there's crap all over it, spray it down lightly with the spray and then towel it off. Really helps in water with algea before all that stuff dries on the boat while you're going down the road.
A little bit of preventive maintenance saves a lot of wash/wax time later. I just got a new fiberglass this spring so I'll have to get the spray bottle ready as well.

Location: Stevens Point, WI | I use the Starbright "Boat Wash in a Bottle" on my Tuffy and it's real gentle on the finish and eats away no problem with the WI River water. I find the Maguires spray wax works really well for a quick wax job.

Location: Eau Claire, WI | Dish soap on my vehicles and my boats. I used to buy the commercial brand car wash soaps and then one day ran out and tried dish soap, I liked it better and have stuck with it ever since.
Theedz tip on the mixed bottle for a quick wipe down at the launch works well too.
One key to glass boats for easy cleaning and to keep it looking nice is to keep a coat of wax on it. I wax mine about 3 times a year.

| Only problem with dish soap is that it removes the wax you worked so hard to put on. Dish soap is a lot stronger than boat wash, or car wash.
One of the best ways to keep your rig looking great is to always wipe it down as soon as you get it out of the water. I carry a couple soft terry cloth towels with me, and almost always wipe it down. My boat always looks great, and when I do a thourough cleaning, it takes less time. |
