I have been building a few through wire construction lures. I have been using 316L Stainless wire. I purchased silver braze flux which is made for stainless wire. The problem I have been having is that the solder is not adhering to the stainless. I have been using the correct flux paste. Does anyone have any advice?
Should I use a different type of stainless wire, or solder?
Thanks

Are you getting the stainless hot enough to adhere?
The soldered ends are a nice touch and finger friendly.

Make sure that you are heating the wire enough to melt the solder, and not melting the solder with your heat source and buttering the joint that way.

I have a solder gun that goes up to 800 degrees. I have thought about a small torch to heat the wire hotter. Maybe that is the problem...

Ditto what figuree said. Being a smoker I always have an asortment of micro torches on hand. The only time I use an iron is where space restricts the use of a torch. You can pick up the torches at most cigar/tobacco shops inexpensively.

I wrap mine, it does not look as pretty but its 10X stronger. I have had solder baits come apart and now I own/make zero!

In order for the solder to adhere, the metal has to be absolutely clean. Hit it with some fine sand-paper or emory-cloth, then a shot of brake-clean. Silver-solder can be tricky to work with, good luck.

Try 60/40 Lead/Tin acid core solder.
