I need some opinions. I'm looking at a '97 Ranger R-80. 150 hp Johnson (also a '97). I've looked at the boat in person, and it seems to be in great shape. Seller said it runs great and alsways has since the day he picked it up brand new($21000). The guy said he'd take $8000. I've looked around on the internet at similar boats, and it seems to be priced pretty well.

What else should i be asking him, and what else should I look for? Thanks for your help.

Get a water test, age/condition of batteries, trailer.

If there's anything he says "is easily fixed" have him do it before taking delivery.

Welcome to Muskie FIRST, typically messages like this should be posted on the Boats/Motors board. I'll leave it here until later this evening and will then move it there.

Thanks,

Mark

NADA value for boat, motor & trailer $7890 low retail, $9510 for average retail. If the boat is in good shape, runs well has a trolling motor and depth finder this would be the range of pricing. If the boat has a a cover and any more options such as extra depth finders, radio, gps, battery chargers etc it would be worth more. Sounds like a fair price to me. That is of course just my humble opinion.

I BOUGHT IT. $8000. '97 r-80. CLEAN AS A WHISTLE. RAN GREAT DURING THE TEST DRIVE. NOW I JUST NEED TO GET THE TITLE, REGISTRATION, AND INSURANCE STUFF FIGURED OUT.

IF I HAVE THE BOAT INSURED, AND THE TITLE AND REG. IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING MAILED, CAN I TAKE IT OUT ON THE LAKE?

As long as the license is up to date, you should be all set to take it out and enjoy.
Oh..and by the way....CONGRATULATIONS!!!
