Hey guys, I used to post on the site but forgot my password and such but anyways I will be heading to Lake vermilion late june or early july and need some help.. I was wondering if anybody could throw some info on where to start we are stayin on the west side of the lake and also what baits are MUST haves im assuming topwater and bucktails should be hot this time of year but colors and other baits.. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Do a search with the lake name in the search bar here on MuskieFIRST. There have been quite a few threads on the lake, and some great info shared. The search icon is in the toolbar on the upper right of the MuskieFIRST screen.

Jake,

Those fish see a ton of topwater and bucktails (and they do catch fish) - The fish will be setting up on "classic" muskie spots around that time. You should be able to find good cabbage in 8-10 feet off some islands and points during that period on the west side, also I have noticed a "wolf pack" effect during that time period if you move a fish there is a very good chance 3,4...5 of his buddies are on the same stucture. Try a 13" killer eel or poppin a triple D

I've found that the louder the better on the west side. Red, orange, or multi-colored Mag Eagle Tails and Mag Voodoo Tails were showing lots of fish the last time I was up there. Topwaters are always good. Try Weagles, Pacemakers, and Lowriders. Loud colors seemed best.
