Hello,
Normally I go to Southeast Ontario the first week of June to target pike in the upper Ottawa river and muskie in the local lakes. Unfortunately I cannot make this week and need to reschedule. I have open from mid June through September to choose a replacement week. Please give any input on WHEN WOULD BE YOUR CHOICE WEEK to go during this time period, taking into account Moon phase, solunar times, and possible past experience in the general area. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Dave

I like the first two weeks of July. By the way, 50 views here is a really new post. We have folks from everywhere, so the folks who viewed the post might not fish your area,

Either go the first week of July or the Full Moon Week in August or better yet September

I believe Muskie is closed the first week of June.

Besides that observation, I'd go any of the new moon weeks, anfter it opens.

Thanks,
I knew you guy's would have some advice. I will look at the new and full moon's in those available months. I am guessing that the better pike I see in the river in early June will mostly be gone to the depths and I am a bit leery of the weed growth I might see in some of the lakes because I run a jet outboard which does not mix too well with weeds.
Anyone know approxamately when the southeast ontario lakes go through turnover? Or can this vary greatly for each body of water? (I am not totally familiar with this process, but wonder if it can affect the lunge during this time).
Sorry if I am overthinking this but ALL of my time in the area has been in that first part of June and I have absolutely no idea what to expect in the summer.
Shep-Muskie season opens in early June on the lakes and the Ottawa river has a later opener.

I would suggest shooting an email to Richard Collin. Each lake/river system is going to be differant. For the most part the waters won't turnover in that area until september would be my guess at the earliest. Hiring a guide in the area for a day may be a big help also.

What lakes are you considering if you don't mind me asking? I know the kawartha chain of lakes and may be able to help you out if that is an area you are considering.

Sorry, I didn't see the Southeast Ontario part. You looking at Kawartha's area?

Hi,
I have been emailing with Mr. Collin the past day or so and I believe that part of my trip will happen on my way to our stay near Deep River, Ontario on the Ottawa. I have actually never caught a muskie on the river but some really nice pike. There are some lakes in the area that have muskie populations (mostly on the small side) and I shall try to target them in the river this time as well. I imagine some of the insight I learn with Mr. Collin will also apply to where I will be staying, so I am looking forward to that (I have actually never trolled before).
