Looking to upgrade this year and just was wondering what everyone uses for electronics. What sonar/gps combo do you use at the console and what sonar do you use up by the trolling motor? Thanks!!!!!

I have two Lowrance X135's, one in front, one in back. That way if one goes out, I can move the other to the end of the boat I'm at. I currently don't use a GPS... someday.

Last year I had a LMS330c on my counsole, this year I got the LMS 332c which is the upgraded unit of the 330. I like the fact that it has the GPS and sonar in one unit. I also really like the color screen. I have some cheapo Hummingbird on the front. I only use the front unit to tell me the deapth and nothing more.

The new Eagle (Lowrance) brand sonar GPS combos are nice for the money.

One suggestion I do have if you can afford it... as stated in earlier reply. Buy two of the same units sonar/gps combos, or two of the same sonars and a hand-held gps unit. That way if one unit goes down on you, you can switch them back and forth if needed.

Color for sonar isn't really necessary IMHO, for what we as musky anglers need, but color gps/mapping is a nice feature if you can afford it.

Garmin and Lowrance/Eagle seem to be the most popular brands out there but the others look like they have some nice stuff as well. I still think the Garmin 240 is one of the best values out there for a reliable work horse all-around sonar unit. Good clarity, good transmitting strength, user friendly and reliable. For $200 kinda hard to beat if you couple it with one of the new hand-held mapping/gps combos and get a ram mount for it.

Good luck, have a good season.

Mine are older units but I have a global map 2000 on the dash and an X-85 on the bow. I want a very good unit on the bow of my boat as I spend 99% of my time there. There is no replacement for quality electrronics. You have a large investment in $$$$ and time. Don't skimp on your ability to "see" whats under you at any given time. Buy the best electronics that you can afford. The Lowrance 330 or 332 is a great unit that a lot of the tournament guys are putting on their rigs. Again, buy the best and most detailed unit you can afford.

I was thinking about the Lowrance 7500C but can't seem to locate any detailed map of LOTW ( Depth Contours, Hazards, Etc )
Is this map available for the 7500C

I have a Lowrance LCX-110c at the helm and a Lowrance LCX-104c up on the bow. Using the NEMA 0183 connetion between the 2 units allows me to use only 1 gps antenna. I have the gps antenna connected to the 110, with a NEMA 0183 connection from that to the 104. However, keep in mind that the 2 units aren't networked together, in other words if I place a waypoint or icon on one screen it doesn't show up automatically on the other. I still have to place waypoints and icons on both units or use the MMC chips and transfer the waypoints and icons between the two.

I use a Fishmark 240 on the bow next to the trolling motor. On the console I have a Fishmark 480 and a GlobalMap 5500C, both on Ram mounts. When I fish from the bow I just turn the Global map around so i can see it from the bow. This set up seems to work great. i would like to learn more about the NEMA networking capabilities though. For example, will 2 networked GPS unit both show the lakemap loaded on one in it's MMC slot?

The RAM mounts are the key though. Use them and turn your units to face you where ever you are in the boat.
