Made ya look! Seriously though, I asked on another board and got a couple responses, but I'm wanting to know what lb. test Power Pro or other superbraid to use when trolling. I'm not running planerboards or downriggers, just flatlines and maybe some in the propwash. The only store near me that carries high pound test line (Power Pro) carries 65 lb. which is the equivalent to 18 lb. mono. Should I hold off and try and find 80 lb. elsewhere? Thanks! Any responses within the next few hours would be awesome as I'm leaving for Green River shortly.

I would not use anything under 80, maybe 100. I have been snapped off on a strike using superlines and holding the rod. Drag set light too. Hard strikes, they feel like they have the force of a dig-in backlash. I won't troll with it again.

I have been using 80lbs Power Pro for three seasons now for trolling and have not had any problems. I just spooled two new trolling Rods with it so my confidence level is pretty high.

Use at least 80 lb Power Pro for trolling Sean, and you will have no problems!

I cast with power-pro but will only troll with 30 pound mono. The strech in the mono will eliminate breakoffs.

I use 80lb. but be careful , because if you come up on a snag you can break the rod with the 80lb. Got a depthraider snagged at Shabbona last year, and didn't notice right away. Had my 9'6 dipsy diver heavy rod bent all the way over in half. As soon as I saw it I thought it was gonna snap. cut the gas and turned into the bend saved the rod but I don't think a shorter rod would have made it. I'd say you could get by with the 65 lb, because you aren't casting. The only reason I use 80lb is, because I snapped a Suick off in canada on 65lb. when I backlashed..... Bought a bunch of 80lb. So I had enough to put on the trolling reels.

I troll with 25 lb mono. Berkely Big Game, in fact. Have had very good luck with it, and long rods, drag set fairly light. Long 50 lb Flouro leader, and super sharp hooks.

I use 65 power pro. You just have to set your drag a little loose, wich you should do anyways to prevent the fish from tearing the hooks free.

Another vote for 80 lb. It also depends what kind of baits you're pulling.

I concur 80 lb power-pro. You can find it most shops or online. Thorne Bros, Rollie & Helen's.
Take a look.
