hey guys i have been experimenting on some olderbaits and spray paint is hard to do fine things with. i seen that walmart has a fully airbrush kit . air compressor and gun and some starter paints. all in a kit for 48.99 is this a good price or kit for a starter just learning on painting baits. has anybody use this setup it is made by testors company. how good is it . to start with. or should i find someone who has a used setup i can start with...bill

I'm sure the guys who do this day and day out will tell you to invest in good equipment. I am not disputing this claim, you do get what you pay for. I just bought a $20 airbrush from Wal-Mart and like it. I can see already why guys spend the extra $$$ on good brushes. Mine has minimal adjustment and does not allow you to regulate the paint flow all that well. My advice. Start simple and if you feel you like tinkering with lures, invest more later. I've found that I love it and can see myself upgrading in the near future.

I tried the wally-mart even cheaper one with the canned air, all plastic gun, junk..Don't go there!
Buy a Passch or something reputable on ebay or search the net for a deal.

How fancy do you want to paint. I have had a blast with good old spray bomb paints. Cut out stencels with an exacto knife if you want patterns. Spray lightly from the aerosol cans, blend, get some on your hands.
These were all painted without an airbrush. Just aerosol. (firetiger stripes and lateral line were a sharpie)
