Subject: Shaft size


The transom on my boat is 20", does that mean I need an outboard with a 20" shaft.
any info would be great. THANKS

20" transom means 20" shaft is needed. If you go shorter you may have serious problems..

If you go longer, your performance amy suffer. If we are talking a 10HP motor, you might get by. If we are talking anything larger than, say 20 HP, then you will definately have problems above planing speed.
