Subject: Shaft size


The transom on my boat is 20", does that mean I need an outboard with a 20" shaft.
any info would be great. THANKS

Location: Chicago, Beverly		20" transom means 20" shaft is needed. If you go shorter you may have serious problems..

If you go longer, your performance amy suffer. If we are talking a 10HP motor, you might get by. If we are talking anything larger than, say 20 HP, then you will definately have problems above planing speed.
