Not wanting to sound too much like an optimist but say I'm in the boat with what I'm sure is the next world record swimming in the big kahuna. Other then the local office of natural resources who should a guy call?

Another witness who would be respected by the majority of society so there are no doubts about it's legitimacy. A priest might be one example (maybe not!?) What are some others?

Call the state DNR or MNR in Canada, they have to witness the weighing on a certified scale anyway. Hopefully someone nearby who witnessed the catch is also helpful. I hope this situation is one I have to deal with soon!

I'd call Larry Ramsell. He'll be the one trying to prove it's not a world record.
At least that's the one I think that has done all the research to dethrone the past "record holders".
Second thought, maybe it's Detloff???
In any case, whoever that guy is, he's the one I'd call.

I would have to wait until I released her, got off the water then I would probably call about 10,000 of my friends letting them know about the BIG HAWG that I just released.

I'd just let her go, then call my wife and tell her I'll be home earlier that I had expected, to which she'll reply, "Oh, another world record?" And I'll say, "Yeah, but don't tell Nik (my son), he wanted to go along today."

At least one priest and two nuns as none of the poeple you tell will ever believe you - even if you kept the fish.

Was that remark about Ramsell and Detloff not bashing or is it OK now?

No, I don't think it was a 'bash'. It was probably a comment about what has happened recently to the records that were in place and no longer are. I think, to clarify, it was Mr. Dettloff, not Larry, who had a number of the records changed. I'm pretty sure Larry just looked at the issues from a historian's perspective.

And yes, I'd be sure to make the fish witnessed enough to be 'Dettloff Approved'!

Mr. Worral,
Mr. Dettloff did not "change" the records. Dettloff gave evidence to the Fishing Hall of Fame
who "corrected" the record. I do not think Dettloff has the power to change the record unless he catches a 70 lber.

honestly cant say if i would keep it or not but...........
if i kept it, i wouldnt call anyone other than the dnr to get it recorded, then i would come on line and put up a post so i could be crucified for killing shamu

if i released it, i wouldnt call anyone other than the dnr to get it recorded as a release record, then i would come home and put up a post so i could be called a liar and told i have no proof and that my picture doesnt look like its really that big.

moral of story...#*^@ed if ya do #*^@ed if ya dont!!!
