My Wife and I are looking to go somewhere different this summer and we decided it would be the Park Falls area. I have zip knowledge of the area and its inhabitants. Can you help me?

Can you recommend a few places to stay? I already have an inquiry into Idle Hour resort for a cabin per a friends suggestion.

Can you tell me places to avoid?

Which lakes are Trophy and which ones are numbers? I figure that we would hit 3 - 4 lakes during the week.

Thanks

More familiar with Phillips accommodations then Park Falls. If your looking for a nice place to stay I would recommend Red Pines Resort. It is on the Phillips chain (Elk Lake) and allows for easy travel to surrounding area lakes & rivers. Al & Debby are the finest hosts in the north woods! Perfect spot for a romantic musky getaway. FYI- Nice = expensive

Red Pines Resort: 1-800-651-4333

Very familiar with Price county. If you need a few suggestions pm me.

just a bit west of Park Falls in Springstead:

http://www.birchesresort.com/

a nice resort with simple cabins and also motel-type rooms...and inexpensive.
has the best/nicest bar in the area.

Boot is definitely a numbers lake with a LOT of fish harvest going on, but you're within a very easy drive to all the waters in the area - Turtle Flambeau, Pike-Round, etc. etc.

Here's two more to check out.

Musky Bill's Place on Soo Lake just a couple miles West of Phillips. 715-332-5554. Never stayed there but it looks nice.

Sunset Haven Resort on Solberg Lake about 4 miles NE of Phillips on Solberg Lake. 715-339-3566. Cabins right on the water with your boat docked right there. Nice bar with good burgers.

I grew up in PF, lots of good water in the area. If you want to stay on the water, I would check out Jim's on Butternut Lake or any place on the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage. If do not need to be on the water, would recomend Motor Lodge in Park Falls. Water to try, Butternut, T-F Flowage, Flambeau River(lots of different areas), Mason-Evergreen, Pike Lake chain, Phillips Chain, Solberg, etc... If want some specifics email me kjgmh at hotmail

I have a trailer by Butternut lake and fish on Butternut and Phillips chain when looking for more action. When I am looking for bigger fish I run out to the Flambeau flowage or up to Namekagon(50 inch size limit), it is about 40 min. ride up there. good luck
