Thought the same. Good size made for barracuda, tarpons etc. I am going to buy one for sure.

I bought the larger of the two last spring. The reel is great. I mated it to my old team diawa musky rod, which has a blank through reel seat, similar to a fenwick hmg. The reel fits comfortably with it's low profile design, and obviously is esay to palm comparing other reels like the ct400, and abu's. I wish I bought the smaller one, pt20, I believe because it would be like going from a 6500 to a 5600. Not much difference in quality performance. I used the reel all spring, summer, and fall and I never had any mechanical failures. I started with smaller baits like shad raps, mepps bucktails, magic makers, and by end summer/fall I was casting cobb count downs, smutly dawgs, and larger deep cranks. The reel performed well and I am satisfied, pretty smooth reel. To give you a perspective I fish with not just own, a calcutta 400, 250, penn 965, 7000HSN (sweet reel), 3 abu 5600's, to many curado's, diawa fuego, C4 6500 (hate this reel the most, to high of a ratio for musky baits in general, the only thing it's good for is topwater prop baits), cabo pt 30, abu 6500 two speed dark red reel (6.something to 4.someting ratio, the low ratio on this reel is awesome for large lipped cranks, I cast Legend perch baits and reel am in all day with this ratio.)

Well I got off track, but I don't just use one brand or just like one reel, the guides on this site get sponsors like nascar and promote that product exclusivly! The cabo pt series is great for musky fishing, but is different and needs a season to get used too. A final note though, when I bought the reel I did not look it over that great. The spool spins on a plastic track not aluminum or metal like other high end reel(ct400, 6500's) It is similar to that piece of junk corsair comparing the spool to frame contact in the cast. I did not see any problems with torque or friction on casts with big baits, but will the cabo pt last as long as an abu garcia, not sure until next year or the year after.

I bought a Cabo 31 as they have a left handed version. The reel handles bucktails like Mepps Musky Killers and VoodoTails great. I also used it for twitch baits like Big Game and Warner Crankbaits. I really liked the low profile, especially for lures I fish fairly fast. On the down side, my instant anti-reverse failed at the end of the season and I needed to have it fixed by the Sportsman repair shop. I would not however, be against getting another one.

I see they have a full one year warranty and if they fail, they extend the warranty for another year from the failure/service date...sounds like a pretty good warranty....I think I'm gonna try a 30 size one very soon. I was thinking it would be good for smaller bucktails and small cranks like baby draiders etc...

I have the CBC31PTS Cabo and I am throwing 18" HR shakers on it no problem... those baits are just under 2 lbs each. A great reel..

On this series of reels the bait clicker is in a bad spot if used for a cast only set-up. I bought mine for casting only and removed the clicker mechinizme (livebait clicker). On the left side where you would palm the reel is thy location of the clicker. The knob slides parallel with the rod instead of veritical like the ct400 or 6500 abu. The first time I used the pts 30 the clicker engaged while my magicmaker was in mid-cast. I'll tell you it sounded like a chainsaw, especially when fishing the northwoods at six in the morning. If you open the left side plate on a right hand retrieve as if you were changing the brake settings. The clicker gear tab can be removed easily and does no harm to the reel. The thing is you will not have a bait/troll alarm! But a good casting setup.
