| Evening All:
Scheduled to be on Cass this Summer for Musky. More research indicates that Cass is primarily Walleye or, dare I say it, purch water. My question: Is that info correct and should I look elsewhere for good Musky fishing?
Thanks.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Cass is an EXCELLENT Muskie lake. Not easy, not huge numbers, but big fish and reasonable action most days with occasional really great action. |

Location: God's Country......USA..... Western Wisconsin | Cass Lake................YES, I love it up there. Not great numbers of fish most days but you could get the fish of a lifetime on the very next cast, or the one after that, or the one after that, well you get the picture. I wish that I could get away for about two weeks this year and get my butt up there to fish. |

Thanks Gentlemen. Thought I was doomed to become my worst nightmare, a purch fisherman. Feeling much better now.

Are you thinking that purch & muskies can't be in the same lake?
Why if it is a good purch or walleye lake can't there also be muskie? |

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Mr. Worrall nailed it, Cass is a great lake to fish, but can be overwelming because of all of the structure. But some big muskies + a bonus big walleye here and there.
PS - don't pass up a shot at Andrusia if Cass is nasty w/ big waves- very big long cabbage bed on left/SW side as you come out of the river channel into Andrusia, it parallel's the reed bed.....
Have fun |

Purch and Walleye can absolutely coexist in a lake, good bait. The question was asked because I read some Cass info that indicated that that Musky fishing on Cass was poor, but Walleye and purch was great.
The spelling of "purch" is based on some great experiences with George Baszo and a long running joke with my primary fishing partner.
Al:
Thanks for the info. We'll try Andrusia.

Location: Minneapolis,Minnesota | I think what Netman is saying is Fish Big, Fish Big water, Big water = Big fish.....Cass is big water.
Right Netman? |

| SHHHHHHHHHHH... I wanted to keep CASS all to myself... well atleast keep it mine and maybe a few hundred others.
Cass is a great lake. Ive tried Andrusia with no success, but Pike are nice sized and Walleyes do well. On down the chain from Andrusia is Wolf Lake and Little Wolf. Now you want to talk about Muskie... well... This is the GEM of all the lakes for Muskies. "Thats all I am going to say about that" |

| Cass is one of the best multi species lakes that I have ever fished.
We catch skis, and eat walleyes, pike, perch and bluegills.

| Don't pass up Buck Lake. Shoot straight across from the entrance, and fish the cabbage outside the bullrush. You'll catch everything from hammerhandles to rock bass to walleye to muskie!
By the way, they spell muskie with an "ie" in MN, not with a "y". |

| Wrong. It's a Y.

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | yeah! just fish the cabbage on Buck- the rest of the lake is junk. Andrusia is the lake above Cass on the Mississipi R. The Mississipi R. outlet of Andrusia feeds into Cass.

| Hi All,
What I think PK is saying that he thinks Netman is thinking is that bigger baits on big water like Cass Lake will have a better chance, bigger odds if you will, of catching bigger fish, and bigger fish are better than those that are less big.
We saw some dandies there last fall, that's for sure.
One thing for sure about Cass, you can't fish all of it. And on windy days you can splash the heck out of yourself or others in the boat!
We had good action (fairly good, I guess) using Suicks. Also have had some larger fish hit on Hawg Wobblers, esp a beat up red & white one.
Good luck.
Later,
