Does anyone have any experience with the Cabela's brand Depthmaster Gold line counter reels? How do they compare to the Diawa's? Also interested to know if you have any experience with the Cabela's trolling rods they sell as a combo.

Thanks.

The cabalas reels are okumas. Get the diawas as I have never had a problem yet. I hear Tica has a line counter reel too, i would love to see it.

One trip to the Cabelas bargain area will confirm that the Daiwa is the better choice. Lots of the Cabelas store brand reels in there but few Daiwas. Trolling reels are work horses that should last forever. Go with the tried and true standard line counter and at least if you have a problem in 5 years, you will still be able to get parts to repair it.

Best trolling reels I have used are the Diawa and the Shimano Tekota

The Diawa LC27's are the best for the money. I have 2 of them that I bought 15 years ago and use them still today. Now I have 8 and still run the old ones each time out. Thats how good they are. 15 years of abuse and still working.

I am fishing way more than I used to but they are still going strong.

I used the Daiwa sg27LC last year for trolling they would lock up after the drag got warm. This year I replace them with the Tekota.
