Location: The Sportsman, home, or out on the water | what about the second pic? These fish were the only two muskys I ever took out of calderon falls, both in the same year. I'm glad that this post got so active so soon! |

Location: The Sportsman, home, or out on the water | I did not count the pores, or look for the scales. When I catch a musky, even a little one, i am so caught up in the moment that I forget to measure girth most times! |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | A hybrid should have rounded lobes on the tail, and rounded fins. This looks like a pure muskie that has great markings, but as said already the easiet way to be sure is the half scaled cheek. Here's a shot of a definite hybrid; even though the tail isn't spread out, it's clearly more rounded, as are the fins.

| I think both fish are pure muskies. Second pic is hard to tell without seeing the tail fin. First one is absolutely not a tiger. Pointed tail fin gives it away virtually 100% as a pure musky, and a well marked one at that. Congrats on both fish! |
