Dear Anon,

Sorry you feel that way. There is much more to the program and it will be explained in our Tester packet.

I wanted to put my .02 in on these baits. I've been testing one for a couple months and here's my opinion as of so far.

Construction:
-Heavy wire
-Many twists in the eye and hook area
-I have an oversized fluted indiana blade that is very thick
-With the upgrade to 5/0 hooks there should be plenty of hooking strenght.
-Living rubber silicon skirt is high quality and very lively
-X4 strenght split ring
-Many beads (5 nickle brass and 1 glow) and a main body on the shaft of mine.

Performance:
Unfortunately I didn't get it until late this fall which isn't the greatest time for blades.
-The oversized indiana blade threw a ton of thump and a good amount of flash
-I believe that this bait would be best in dark water/overcast/night applications.
-Living rubber skirt is very lively and the mylar accents throws off a nice amount of "scale flash."
-I put another spinner on the back of mine to give it a little more flash, but the new ones with the grub body should eliminate the need for this
-The oversized blade takes a little to get going and isn't the best for a "herky jerky" retrieve, but in the above mentioned applications, a slower steady retrieve usually works better.

All in all it's better then 95% of the in-lines on my box(s) and I'm looking forward to some other configurations.

Anon, I see your point your making. I think that the $15 to get 3 in-lines custom made to your specifications is a great deal. Infact I'd be surprised if they didn't have more then that in materials. The one I have is quality thoughout and I wish that most of the bucktails where up to the Shady Tails standards.

I didn't mean for this to sound like a comercial, but more of a preview of what you can expect if you decide to accept the field tester possition.

Sorry man, I can agree that $15 is a great deal for 3 quality bucktails, but I've been field testing for years with several different companies. I've never had to pay for a single lure with any of the companies that I test for.

One of the perks of field testing is the "free lures". But for that free lure, there are duties and responsibilities. You are expected to not only fish with these lures, you also have to evaluate the performance of the lure, study it for quality and performance defects and if possible, provide constructive feedback to improve the product.

If I'm going to provide feedback to improve a lure, enabling the manufacturer to make a better product and sell more, thus improving his bottom line, I'm not going to pay for a lure.

Steve,

We agree with your thoughts completely! Part of this is to develop a working staff of field testers. We could go the way of giving free lures to well known Guides and high profile "Pro" fisherman but we are looking for more of the common fisherman...or the guy that usually pays for lures opinion. We've also discovered that just because someone is a Guide or a Pro that they may not respond or provide feedback. With our program those who provide quality feedback will be given the opportunity to participate in future tests where they WILL NOT pay. They also will be able to continue to purchase custom lures at the wholesale price. We are NOT making money on this but are trying to develop and find a pro-staff of the "common man"

Thanks for your feedback!

I must agrea with you on that one. I know many famous fishermen just pass out all they receive to test to their friends and they never reply. I know, I traded some of my jerkbaits with a famous angling writer here and he just passed them around to his guest-fishermen. Bummer!

I also think that the opinion of a common fisherman is far more valuable than one of a famous guide or fisherman. He is the one who will be buying it! Quite frankly, being acquainted with several so-called famous fishermen here, I have some serious doubts about all the adds and the reviews these guys give (I can't speak for the USA anglers of course, just pointing out how it is here). I still think that a lure prooves itself in the water not in the magazines. That's why I like the idea from Musky nut tackle to find 50 people to test their lures. I fish totally different waters in Holland, great for comparisons! And USA lures are being bought here too, in stores but also on the internet. Over here lures get famous by word-of-mouth and not because of the adds in the magazines. Then you know they are worthwhile.

Looking forward to submitting the spinners to some serious testing!
