| How much bigger are the 7000, compared to the 6500? also do the make the 7000 in a left hand?? The gear ratio seems to low on the ones i've seen, maybe the big handle makes up for it?
Thanks |

| It is much bigger and heavier than the 6500, and the left handed model is 7001. A great reel at any price, and very reasonable especially if you can find an older one used |

Location: Eagan, MN | The size of the spool more than makes up for the gear ratio. So there's your speed, and w/ that big handle and low gear ratio you have all the power you'll ever want. I also have some 7000 Big Games w/ 5.3:1 gears. Might take you a day or two on the water to get used to the size. I use 7000's about 80% of the time and I palm the reel, doesn't bother me at all. |

Location: Contrarian Island | I love 7000's...I palm them and never have trouble with the size. The best ones I have are the 7000 CS Pro Rocket and the BG 7000 CL (the black ones)
I don't think they made either in left hand though |

| The 7000 is quite a big larger than a 6500. If you adjust the way you hold the rod a little the size doesn't matter much. I keep the trigger on the rod between my middle finger and ring finger then I lay my thump behind the side of the reel laying it on the spool. That way you don't have to change hands to cast. Don't let the size bug you, I am 5'6" and have small hands. I throw bucktails/spinnerbaits with a 7000HS and crankbaits with a 7000 C3. I could not imagine fishing without either one. |
