I am a little warry of the hard drive becouse of the pounding they will take in a boat. They have moving parts in them and that will mean more to go wrong. I can't see why anyone would need 20 gigs of storage for fishing. If they were SATA RAID that mirrored info I would feel more cofortable with one, but if that hard drive pukes, your done. Later

I have talked to my friends about this issue of hard drives. We've come to the same conclusion. I don't see how a hard drive can take the pounding during bad lake conditions. I'm going to hold off for at least a year until I hear some reports before I buy any of these products. I just don't see how they can hold up--

Red...I'm with you on this one. With this kind of stuff, you have to wait a season or two. Besides that, the prices will come down by then as well.

Talked with someone that told me the hard drive would come loaded with all the good Navionics Charts. I'm looking to get eather a GlobalMap 7000c or the 7600c hd. I'm going to wait and see whats on the hard drive.

The new lowrance eagle products with the 20 gig drives are loaded with lowrances own new version of navionics. The hard drives are shock resistant and are geared towards their new radar products for big water. The units have more vertical pixels and will setup as a quadrant screen for the radar purposes. x111, x26 and so on will have maps of all coastal and intercoastal waterways for the US and parts of Canada.
