I've seen a lot of posts about buying stuff off E-Bay. Has anyone ever had any problems with E-Bay?

On December 12, I won an auction, mailed payment for the merchandise on Dec 16, and haven't heard from the guy since. Tried to call him and e-mail him several times - no response. I even filed an complaint with E-Bay against the guy, but still don't have my stuff. This guy is supposed to be a reputable dealer, but I can't seem to get anywhere with this. Anyone ever have similar problems? Would like advice.

So far I have never had any problems. I make sure I look at the feedback % for positive feedbacks. Most are up at 98 or better that I bid on. So far so good.

I don't use online auctions anymore because of problems like that, not getting stuff at all or not getting what you thought. Just stick with people who are highly rated and you should avoid most problems. I have been battling identity theft for years with little success so be cautiously sharing information with anyone online!

Never had a problem and I have bought a lot of fishing and Harley stuff. I don't use Paypal, but only use Postal money orders. If you get an email telling you that you need to verify your identity becouse you are suspected of wrongly using ebay, don't do it. It is a scam to get your social and credit card number. They are also doing the same thing with credit card accounts. Later

I guess I should've added that this guy had 97% positive feedback, and has his lures in all of the big muskie catalogs. I didn't think he'd want to jeopardize his reputation over an e-bay auction. I paid with a postal money order, he cashed it in December. I just hope he is mature enough to send my lures or give me a refund.

I've never had a problem with ebay.

There is a fairly well-known problem with delivery of baits from one shaker - I mean, maker, of musky lures. The baits are supposed to be great, but I've heard lots of stories about guys never getting their lures, or waiting two years, or waiting two years before they get their money back.

I've used ebay to buy and sell alot...with only a couple problems...I now pay with PayPal as it cover up to $500 of any item not delivered..they do take a small fee of course but it is very easy to use and conveniant...plus if you get stiffed on a bait they refund you the money.
I always look over feedback and any negative feedback in the last 6 mo. I proceed with caution....Keep hounding the guy with emails, phone calls etc until you hear from him.
Try him direct at his store if he has one.
Good luck!

You wouldn't have happened to have won an auction on a red/white globe? I won an
auction on a globe matching that description a while back and the guy never sent me
an address. I emailed him three times and never heard anything. I got to wondering if
he wasn't happy with what it sold for or something. If that was the case he should have just set a reserve. I then noticed about a month later he had it back up for sale again.

Never a problem myself, one close call where I should have checked the rating before I bid but I did end up getting item about a month later. I have over 200 purchases on Ebay on all have been great except the one which was just a slight headache but worked out.

I bought a low end reel that that was advertised as NIB. It had some parts missing. I emailed the guy and he responded that he would refund my money if I sent it back. I did and that was the last I ever heard from him. I tried following up a couple times with no response. I lost about $45 in the deal.

I have bought and sold about a dozen or so lures without a problem. I am curious how many people have received lures only to find out they are duds. Out of tune etc.

I have sold much more than I have bought. The only problems I have ever had are with people not paying. That doesnt really bother me as I am only out the 75 cents it costs to list the item, and I can still resell it.

Havent had any problems with purchases. I think most people are honest, but you have bad apples in every group.

I had one problem with an item I sold. The item was damaged in shipping, it was insured, but the Post Office didn't want to pay out the insurance. The buyer gave up with the post office and demanded that I refund his money. I was out of town for awhile and didn't get his messages until I got back. I didn't want to give him his money back and get a damaged item returned to me, as it wasn't my fault. So, he left negative feedback. Stuff like this happens. However, I think Ebay is still a decent place to do business, even though its become the international black market. Use Paypal so that you are protected up to $500, and always check feedback ratings. Negatives aren't a big deal unless there is a pattern or there have been several recent negative feedback comments posted. Don't let one bad experience deter you.

I sell a fair number of my baits on Ebay and have had very good success with customers. Up until recently I hadn't had a single delayed payment. I have found nearly all buyers of my baits to be responsive and dependable and have not once found it necessary to leave a "negative feedback". The post-office problems are somewhat of a dilemna, however. I personally feel obligated to make sure the customer receives something they pay for but it's tough when you send a product out in perfect shape and it arrives damaged...I haven't had this happen but have heard the stories. Because of this I buy insurance on all large packages which protects everyone. Ebay is a great thing but I certainly wish they had some serious competitors as their fees may soon drive out many of the small guys.

It wasn't a globe style bait. I make my own jerkbaits, so I don't deal with shakers- I mean makers of this style baits.

THANKS!!

Until recently, my experience with them has been quite good. However, the other day I got a message from Pay Pal (used to pay for merchandise via credit card) that someone else was attempting to access my account. They cancelled my account. Although they did this to protect me, it's still a pain in the neck.

Previously, I had received a message from someone representing themselves as eBay warning me that for security purposes, they needed my account numbers. Turns out this was nothing but a hacker trying to obtain my credit card numbers to rip me off. eBay will NEVER ask for this information online from you.

Interestingly enough, the message had an eBay logo on it that appeared to be on the level.
