| All,
The DNR is meeting with a panel to discuss regulations on the lake. One of the panel members is asking a question on another discussion board about the support for a 48" minimum. He plans to print out the responses and bring the to the meeting.
Here is a chance to have an impact. I highly doubt anyone here would NOT support a high minimum size on Mille Lacs. Please take the time to voice your support for the change. Please post your real name, city, and state with your message.
Here is a link to the thread: http://www.in-depthangling.com/forum/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=1720...
Thanks!

| I think this post has elicited a few responses, but I wanted to bring it to the top to make sure people get a chance to read it. | |

| While I am very excited to see the size limit go up on Mille Lacs, but why stop there! I think the DNR should evaluate many of the trophy waters of MN. How about Vermilion, Leech, Cass, and so on. These lakes have all shown that they produce trophy muskies even with the 40 inch size limits. Can you imagine what it would be like with a 48" or 50" size limits!! WOW!!
Just my 2 cents,

| I wish our Indiana DNR would raise the size limits here as well. 36" is just too small of a size limit. I'd like to at least see 42" ...at the least. 46" or 48" would be sweet...but...I know that's not realistic and would be pushing it. But I think our state and our fish is worth of a 42" size limit....my opinion and two cents... | |

Location: Brooklyn Park | Love to see the limit set at 48". But why not 50" or 52". Lets get to the point where they are just catch and release. Can you imagine. With the replicas today and the price comparisons there is no way a fish this big should be caught.
When dealing with muskies is there a problem with underharvest? Not sure but some real brutes would be out there

| Id love to see a Minnesota dnr Biologist be a guest in the chat room sometime if thats something they are allowed to do and not be a conflict of intrest
Im pretty active in muskies inc and the Minnesota Muskie Alliance so I get to be around Minnesota Dnr often ,,Just about all the DNR muskie guys have said they are against going above 40 inch minnimum,,They feel it could hurt the muskies unbalancing the sexes has males dont usually grow past 45,,therefore all harvesting by those who wish to harvest would be of females and that could unbalance the sexes for spawning,,,Im with you guys Id love to see higher limits but considering the fisherie that the Minnesota DNR has made I guess Im inclined to trust them all of their calls have been the right ones so far

| I have never in my entire heard from anyone in the DNR Happy Hookers argument for keeping a 40 minimum. Are you sure you didn';t misunderstand. If they are indeed saying that it is a revelation in Muskie management for sure. | |

| Guest,
I have heard that, too, straight from Rod Ramsell. HH is absolutely correct. I still support a high min. size limit on Mille Lacs.

Minnesota DNR's number is 651-296-6157,,,The guys are way overworked but you could ask for the emails of muskie Biologists Rod Ramsell, Jim Lillienthal, or Jerry Yount, when they have the time Im sure they would respond to you might be intresting too if you could post it here,,We used to have Rod Ramsell talk at our Muskies inc chapter from time to time absoulutly the most intresting speaker Ive ever heard, learn more from him in an hour then attending all muskie shows combined,,They used to have a booth at the Minnesota muskie expo too which was where you could talk to them and learn alot, however budget cuts in the DNR dont allow this, too bad we really lost on that
Would sure be nice if they could get one of those three in the chat room sometime

| I have Rod's email address. I'll ask him. This doesn't make sense to me. With a high minimum you are protecting female muskies. As they start spawning at around 42 inches in Mn. it just doesn't make sense to have a minimum below when they first sqawn. I'll post when I hear. | |

| Actually Worral or Slamr if your watching,,,would you like me to try and see if I can get a Minnesota DNR muskie rep to maybe host a chatroom session sometime in the future???? Im sure theres alot of questions about the Minnesota Fisherie people have,,,More lakes,Stocking, whats the main forage they find in them "surprising",,,I dont know if their are any rules that would prohibit them from doing this but Id be willing to try and see | |
