Looking at a stratos that could replace a '93 lund (pro-v) with a beam of about 85 in. T he stratos is a multi-species boat with a length of 19ft. 3 in. and a beam of 91in. and is a 1998 model. The lund is a 1775 (about 17ft.) Would the stratos be a better big water and musky outfit or not? Don't know how much this matters, but the lund has a 1989 90hp. mercury motor and the stratos has a 175 fuel injected motor. Any first hand knowledge would be appreciated.

What is the exact make of the motor on the Stratos. If its a 1998 Evinrude Ficht 175 I would walk away. The early ficht motors had nothing but problems.

Running Hot,
You nailed the date. I do know the motor hasn't had a power head problem. I know the owner and the dealer, too. I would think that after this time, if it's running fine, it would continue to do so. I suppose buying any motor used involves taking a chance, and this could be a bigger one. Thanks.

I own a 1996 Stratos 219F with a Johnson 150 Fast Strike. It's the best boat I've ever owned! Handles rough water great and can run with the best of them @ 62 mph. Never had any problems with the boat or motor although I've alway kept it in the garage. I am the original owner of the boat.

The 219 Stratos was one of the best on the water back then. The thing was a rocket ship, too. Handled the big water pretty well.

I fish out of my partner's 219 F a lot. For lack of a better term, it is a real "neat" boat.

The interior layout stinks (no room, small deck, tight in the stern) , but that was what builders were doing back then.

It is a fast, low profile semi-v hull that rides like a bass boat at WOT but handles bigger waves really well considering what it was designed to do.

On the Mississippi River, used models are highly sought after, as it makes an ideal river walleye boat if that is your main gig. Alot of guys will buy one then repower them.

The 219's are great boats. I had one for around five years, and it took every thing the LOTWs could throw at it. To make it a good muskie boat you should have the back casting deck, then it's a very good boat. Fast and not a bad ride in big waves. It fishes about as well as any boat I've seen.

The 1998 Fight motors where trouble! I went through three powerheads. You would probably need to repower, unless the motor has been up-graded to around 2000 specs.

Wondering if anyone is still reading this thread. pretty old. I have a 92 219w with a Johnson 150 pro model. I thas a 2000 evinrude ficht when I bought it. Walk away from Ficht engines. I didnt do my reading first and was caught drooling at the glossy boat with a newer motor. The boat is great now but he Ficht blowing up cost me huge! What prop are you running that you touch 60 with a 150?

10-4 of the glossy boat drool. I bought a 1998 219f with a 1998 Johnson 175 ficht. Everything was great for three months and then ka-boom. The motor had all of the upgrades at the time but it still didn't matter. I repowered with a new Johnson carb 175. My $13000.00 investment just became $20,000. Overall I love the 219. I just retruned from Canada and darn glad I took the boat with. You can't beat the stability and fishability of the 219. Good luck with your prop quest.

Like the boat, hate the motor. But back then Stratos made a great boat. i had a 93 275xl bass boat that i just sold. Had the 150 faststrike and i could hit 63mph. Never a problem. New owner is loving that boat. again, Ficht is something to be concerned with.
