I noticed something as I looked over the 3 pages of "top 5 baits rescued in a fire." As a Jake user and lover I noticed the Grandma wasn't mentioned much. Since I haven't used one would you like to select which one you prefer and why? I am not as well versed as many of you on the vast offerings of musky baits so "edumacate" me. Are they 2 totally different actions?
I currently own 4- 8" Jakes and 1- 10" Jake. Love the wide wobble and occasional blowout as a higher speed trolling bait. Love the buoyancy over weed tops when casting.
Both are excellent baits I'm sure.

Hi Steve,
How's things with you and Jake?

For me the Grandma's that I use most are primarily for when I'm trolling. There is a difference in the lips of the two baits and the Granny will get down deeper than a Jake.

However I also use a number of 7" grannys for twitching. Their lips are smaller and
they work great over shallow rocks or for working over the top of weeds.

Action wise they are very similar, in my opinion. You can do some modification on the lips of either bait, to change the way they work.

I like Grandmas becouse they get deeper on shorter lines trolled and they are better built as far as I'm concerned. After a few fish Jakes eyes would get loose. I also understand that Drifter is having their lures made in China and I won't be buying anymore of their stuff. Later

A six inch jake is the worst possible bait to ever try
unless you want to catch a fish. I have a high success rate with both, large and small.

Thanks for the clarification, Gents. I've had good results with the Jake but may have to get a few Grandmas as I gain trolling experience.

Ace, I'll tell Jake you said, "Hi." He's doing great. Hope all is well with you, your family and your new grandchild.
