| I'm looking at heading to the Cass Lake area around the 4th of July. Not my optimal weekend to get out there but for work and vacation allotment reasons... With a typical spring are fish usually in their summer patterns by this time or are is there still a transition from spring to summer? I know it is all weather dependent but in a typical year? How about the boat & recreational traffic on this holiday weekend? Plan on hitting the water early & late and night fishing to beat it. I have been searching the web for a place to stay on Plantangenet. Thanks. |

Location: Right behind you (tap, tap) BOOO | I know this resort isn't on Plantagenant, but it's a nice little resort on Little Wolf Lake. Little Wolf Lake is a Musky Brood stock lake and the only access to it is at this resort. It is very close to Leech, Cass and Plan... Check it out. We stayed here and made day trip to all three bigger lakes and finished off the day with night fishing on Little Wolf...

Location: Downers Grove, IL | Can't help on the MN lake front except to say Mille Lacs in July can be outstanding - particularly the north shore.

| Thanks E23 for the link. May be an option. I figured I would like to stay on one of the smaller area lakes where I could be a short drive to the bigger puddles. From what I have found is that 4th of July weekend is a nightmare for boat traffic. I'll probably take a day or two before and after the holiday on that Monday. Full moon two day safter the 4th...... Can't wait! |

Location: Lake Vermilion Tower, MN | The Muskie action is normally pretty good on Vermilion in July unfortunately, just like all the other good lakes it's also very busy.

| Depends on the year. Last year Mille Lacs had the best bite. The year before it was Vermillion. Maybe this year it will be Cass. |
