| I caught a few Muskies on Zara Spooks and Super Spooks last year. My question is what kind of leaders do you guys use on topwaters ? Do you use a stardard snap or tie the leader directly to the bait with a loop knot or split ring ? I just am not comfortable using the snap- I believe it weighs the line down in front of the bait and it might cause the bait to lose some action on the bait especially when you want the bait to dance(in place) over some good looking weeds. What # test do you use and how do you connect the leader to the bait? Thanks, Roy |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I use a 60# Seven Strand leader with a split ring and a 200# test swivel. Works very well for me! |

| I use single strand metal leaders for most top waters and glide baits, and this year I am going to play around with flouro and see how that works! |

| with a side to side bait, I usually use a stiff wire leader of about 10-12 inches long. you're right about the swivel weighting the leader down so a split ring is a good choice, I usually use stringease snaps, they are pretty much guaranteed not to open up ever, just replace them when they weaken. you can get jackpots sideways and almost moving in place with a good leader, definately a good trigger. |
