| I usually use anywhere between 110 to 200lb. It all depends on what you're throwing. I like a lighter leader if you're using a small minnowbait or something that needs quick response. But if just cranking in, usually a heavy.
I experimented with using a split ring this year instead of a ball bearing swivel on my leaders, as far as jerkbaits go, and noticed that with the leader not sinking quite as fast, I got a little different action out of some of my baits. I also believe that I put a few more fish in the boat because of this different action. maybe.

| Heres what I make, #124 for smaller minnow baits and hair and all the rest are #174(all singlestrand) the only sevenstrand I use is on suckfish rigs! Oh and I use 9"-12" most of the time!
p.s.- I just say "no to flouro"

I am not trying to promote them, in fact if it wasn't such a superior product I would demote them. They gave me the cold shoulder when I contacted them on behalf of the C & R Musky Club to make a wholesale price purchase. Does anyone know someone with that company? I need an in.
I use the 87# on my bucktail/light rods and 124# on my heavy rods. The lighter leader material on the light rod helps small baits work to there fullest. Especially TR twitchers. I don't use snaps either, just Bucher or heavy duty Worth split rings.
I might put to much into my leaders though. A new good friend on mine has been just running a large snap swivel and no leader for many years, with no problems what so ever and he catches many big fish.
