I have a gray bucktail and want to dye it black. What is the best way to do it? Hair dye? Permanent marker? Something else? Thanks!

If you want it black, use a magic marker. I've put "bars" on my Chart bucks, and have had more action on them.

Black Magic Marker will do the trick and works pretty well!

Buy a black tail and tie your own. It gives you something to do over these far too long winters!

Actually dyeing bucktail (especially black) is closer to an art form than not. Ever notice how some manufactures black starts to fade over time? Black requires the highest heat and most accurate time and temp to make the dye set up. High heat also shrinks the tails. That 6 inch black hair on your favorite bucktail was probably 8 inchs to start with. Lighter colors take less heat to set and thus less shirkage.
