The Next Bite TV Tonight Thursday the 30th at 9:30pm Central on The Outdoor Channel (Channel 606 on DirecTV).
I heard Pete Maina catches a 53.5" muskie at the end of the show.

This should be an excellent show. Parsons, Kavajecz, and Mr. Maina are kind to the camera, and all are excellent educators. I'd wager a popular show is airing for the first time this week!

Believe me, it will be worth your time. I got to see at midnight on monday (still not sure why it aired then) and it is laid out really nice. Nice how to graphics to give you ideas of where they are fishing, etc. and nice fish are caught. When you see Pete pull that 40# into the boat - you can just see how much of a different animal these fish turn into when they get that big. Swims off real nice too!
Enjoy!

Very impressed.Put together well with different segments and the underwater graphics will really help people understand location etc. better.Great footage , and aside from the fish, I loved to see the hookcutters in Pete's hand and then a mention of the cut hook.THAT is part of the whole education thing.National show.Sweet.Great Job! I loved the new show because it had lots of action yet was very instructional. Also sorry about losing your biggest fish ever, but cool to have her on tape to watch again and again until you catch a bigger fish! I put it right up with the Linder's Angling Edge, and for my money the show with the most musky footage wins!

Great show. Looking foreward to more and curious to see how /where the show progresses. Looks very promising.
I thought I was on to something original as far as wrapping rod handles. I was wondering if anyone else has done this and what you have you used. I've tried racket tape with fair success but was wondering about handlebar wrapping (for mountain bikes). I like the feel that you get while gripping the tapped handle and it helps quickly distinguish your rods from others in your boat.

Very good show, but how does it happen that Pete always finds himself in the boat with giggling and hollering partners? One of the better musky shows I've seen on TV. It looks like they are having some genuine fun when they are doing it too.

Karloutdoors,
In reference to the rod wrap, I have a John Gillespie episode on tape from early this year that Pete discusses with John Gillespie. He gives a name of a company that makes them for the purpose of rod butts. I'll see if I can locate the episode and let you know the name of them. I am sure the material is similar to rod wraps you can buy for ice fishing rods for rods with no reel seats. I know Bass Pro carries them.
I'll get back to you.

I just learned it runs 13 weeks straight, and then all 13 will repeat, so you can catch again unless someone you know taped it?

Karloutdoors,

Someone else asked about them and I think Pete mentioned that Bass Pro sells wraps for the longer rod butts.

The rod wrap that you guy's are talking about is called "Rod Wrap". You can get it at Bass Pro in many different colors (black, yellow, grey, blue and red, maybe green too) and I think 3 sizes/lengths. I use it on all of my muskie rods and have for the past 3 years. I use to use tennis racquet grip (Turna Grip) but it would wear out, rip and peel apar midway thru the year. The "Rod Wrap" feels like soft leather and is very durable and reuseable. I think Pete stole that idea from me. Just kidding Pete! When we fished together 2 springs ago he was asking me about it. He tried one of my rods with it on and said that he liked it. I love the stuff even thou my buddies call me names for using it. LOL!

Same here as Dogboy...our cable company only carries OLN...not Outdoor Channel. So..there was no way for me to see this show. If someone here would be kind enough to make a copy, I'd reimburse them for the tape and the shipping.

Nevermind...I found out that Next Bite will be offering this show on video.

Saw the video Sunday night on tape because I can't get the outdoor channel in my area.... Excellent! The fish that Pete landed was amazing and like others have said, the one he lost was absolutely HUGE. Impossible to say for sure how big it was, but the thing looked like a tarpon when it came out of the water to shake the hooks. AWESOME.
