| What rod do you guys recommend for fishing with suckers on quick strike rigs? do you use longer rods for more snap or do you use a shorter rod for more backbone? please be specific because i will be using info in aid for a sucker rod for next season thanks a bunch |

| I do quite a bit of suck fish`in and have been using 8' heavy catfish specials from Southbend, glass, big, heavy but sets the steel for suck fishing, they were 60.00 for the pair and have not found much better, except for an 8' fig rig sucker/trolling e-glass but they are 109.00 each, sweet though! I like long for the set , taking up slack and the fight. My personal liking! |

Location: Madtown, WI | Love those southbend rods- 8 footers!!! They have some really nice backbone with out the typical wimpy tip of a lot of glass rods! I have two. Sports Authority had one left in madison here on sale for like 15$...
I have had them now I think for 3 seasons now....caught several on the rods trolling and sucker fishing...

Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | for 2005 StCroix will have an 8' heavy Premier glass Musky stick. I'm thinking of it, but then again, I believe you actually have to catch fish with a sucker before justifying $200.00 for a rod. |

Location: Lincolnshire, IL | I have both a 7'6" and an 8' Classic Cats, both are great sucker/trolling rods, the 7'6" is a great all around rod...but does get a bit heavy after awhile.... |

Location: Mendota Heights, MN | Boated several nice ski's (biggest a 50") this fall fishing suckers. Used berkley big game rods. $24 each from Walmart, they worked great. If I am gonna break a rod in the freezing cold, it's gonna be a cheap one.
Of course they are only for sucker fishing.
