Location: Apollo, PA | Anyone using these reels? I would like some feedback on them. They go for around a hundred, which is alot less than the Calcutta's. How do they stack up to the Shimano's and the new Diawa's? Honest opinions appreciated? Saw an ad for these in last monthes Musky Hunter. Wanted to check them out before I buy anything. Location: Oregon | Although I mostly run baitcast reels I do have two Okuma Epix spinning reels, one small and one a bit larger. I have had no problems with them whatsoever and I have put them through several winter tests now. Several friends own them as well with similar results. I know some of the early Epix reels guys were breaking the handles on but I think this problem has since been resolved...they are hard to beat for the money.
As a side note, I own probably 4 abassadeur baitcasts and the older models seem to hold up better, not sure why this is. Two of my newer ambass baitcasts keep having trouble with the worm gear in the front of the reel...the one that makes the line wind on even. I just recently bought a Quantum Baitcast for about 80 dollars that looks to be a very well made reel, you might take a look at them as well. The Quantum "Iron" is a popular baitcast out here in Oregon for Sturgeon and they live up to their name!

Location: Lake Vermilion Tower, MN | I own four of their trolling reels that I have been very happy with. The drag is smooth and they have plenty of line capasity.
I also have one of their spinning reels that I use casting for smallies. It has always worked well for me.
