Location: Winnipeg Manitoba | I've recently started to tie my own Bucktails, kind of a diversion from these long Manitoba winters. I'm real happy with the quality of the tails themselves but I'm not to pleased with the bends on my wires. I've been thinking of ordering a tool for the job. What tool or method do you guys use? |

| Are talking about making the loops for the eyelet etc? I simply use a round nosed pair of pliers. It makes a perfect circle for the eyes. they should be available at at most tool shops. |

| Yes, I agree the round nose pliers are the way to go. The machines that you can purchase usually are not large enough to accomodate the length of wire used for musky sized baits. Just make sure that when you make your first bend to bend to the "outside" about 45 degrees then position your pliers to the inside and just above that to come around and make your loop. That will give you a nice looking circle. Keep your wraps tight together and toughen up those fingers since bending that wire will put some strain on them! Good luck. |

| When I tied M&Gs I used a stainless steel surgical rod the exact diameter of the loop I wanted to create. (Available from medical supply stores). Used a small vise to hold the rod. It is worth the effort getting if your doing any kind of volumn.

Location: Kawarthas, Ontario | http://www.luremaking.com sells a tool for making the eyes. It's available inthe States too, but they are pricey, so unless you've got a bunch of $ simple hand tools like th eones mentioned would be your best bet.

| I make my own using hand tools and that works fine, but have considered pounding a few lunker finishing nails into a 2 x 6 and using that as a form. Has anyone done that with any degree of success? How did you lay it out? Thanks... |

| I been using the small needle-nose visegrip and works great for me, even bending up the .071 wire. There is no slippage!
p.s- get round nose at the craft store!

Yes, they are different. Needle nose don't work. I don't remember where I got mine(sorry)
I did get it online from somebody who sells components. Check Moore's lures or Rollie and Helen's. They are hard to find but they work great. If neither of those two places have them I must have gotten mine from a place in Ohio I used to get components from, I don't remember the name. |
