| anybody else have any luck this weekend?
i fished for 3 hours Friday morning with my father-in-law.
when the sucker alarm went off slow and steady, i said, "weeds."
he checked anyway and a slow, steady hand brought a white silhouette into view, "it's a fish! set the hook!"
a couple minutes later, he'd landed this nice 39" - his first muskie since 1984!!!!
there's nothing quite like fishing with your family.

Location: Downers Grove, IL | I capped off the year with 3 nice muskies. All were caught on suckers after following bulldawgs. My partner got a fat 39 incher and I put the screws to a 46 and a 47. All were fat fish and the best part is that all of them were caught on video!!!

Location: Racine, Wi | I got a fat 37.5 on Friday, and that was IT!!!! They got lockjaw for me the rest of the weekend. The cool thing was, it was on an Undertaker. The lake I was on has been a major sucker bite this fall, and this is the 1st one not caught on a sucker in a while out there. The sled is asleep for the winter, until I have to go to Indiana, or somewhere with open water. |

Location: Madtown, WI | Hey congrats on getting your Dad a fish Mike!!
Lisa and I took the boat up north this weekend to fish a little between deer hunts. Hunting stunk but did get out for 2.5 hours on Fri as well. We had to break about 3/4-1 of ice to get out. The water was murky from turning over still, could only see about 1.5 feet down. Had one tense moment early when I hooked a scrappy 4 foot...pine tree off the bottom. About a half hour before we were going to leave, the sucker got snagged on the bottom again...I lifted it up and it felt heavy but I thought I had snagged another tree...till it gave a head shake. I yelled for Lisa to get up front since it was a fish..she said she didn't want to screw it up and wanted me to take it...just then the fish took off and started pulling out quite a bit of line...I dropped the tip and hammered it. Fish didn't move and the rod just completely buckled under the weight...man I love setting the hook on big fish!!! Fish stayed deep and bulldawged hard. I had to really reef it up off the bottom. Lisa did an awesome job on the net. Fish had something big in its stomach..the picture shows it a little but it was VERY WIDE bellied...was 46 X 20. We didn't get out rest of the weekend with all the snow and hunting...
On a side note...Lisa and I had a very good Thanksgiving dinner at Stingrays in Woodruff on thurs!
Sure was pretty in the northwoods with all the snow...we got about 8 inches at the cabin.

| 3 Days in beautiful Canda, priceless!
My worst results ever: One dink pike and a nice catfish, both on Legend Plows. Bitter cold, massive waves and torential downpours. The muskies were in their usual places but just not active! |

Location: north central wisconsin | Depression has finnally set in. Fishing every day this past week(in between hunting deer) has made me forget about the end drawing near. Finished off on the 30th with a nice day of drowning cranks. 34" for me. 47" for my buddy. Now it is time to fix the broken stuff, send in reels, get rid of unused or little used lures, buy more lures that I do not need, and get the tipups ready for the next fishing season, which should start here by Monday or Tuesday.
|

| Mike, I too fish a shad based lake with Fuzzy Duzzits but seem to have a hard time staying on top of the shad. I locate them and then they promptly seem to disappear. How do you stay on top of them? I would like to troll the lake but don't know how to get my baits down to 35-45 feet deep where the shad seem to be. Seems like I spend most my time looking for shad and then 10 minutes jigging where I spot them then back to looking again...somewhat frustrating. Any suggestions you could lend to a new muskie fisherman? |
