| Looks like Vilas county lakes will make it till the end of the season. Low temps will start closing some of the smaller lakes but you should be able to find open water somewhere. Water temps as of yesterday (Tuesday 11/23) were running about 38-40 degrees but saw some freezing in the shallows of bays. We fished yesterday on the Three Lakes Chain and boated two a 35" and 38" fish. One hit a sucker the other on a crankbait. Some very nice fish have been boated in the last week including several over 50". Interestingly the bite seems to be about 50/50 between suckers and artificials. Two of those fish over 50" that I know of were taken on crankbaits. The sucker bite just didn't seem to be as dominant this year as it usually is. I think the ciscoes will probably pop this next few days with the full moon occuring on Friday. Anyone heading up this way is welcome to contact me if you need info on what lakes are open or other help. | |
