I had a trepasser on my land to the south Saturday and Sue wouldn't let me go after the guy for exactly this reason. One never knows. This guy was obviously mentally unbalanced. Some reports clearly indicate he fired first, some state it's unclear. I guess we'll have to wait for the final details to know how this went down, but it doesn't sound good for the trespasser.
I'll add this:
Any walk of life has it's horrible moments. This guy was not an OK fellow, that much is clear. One can find 'freaks' on the streets of New York, Chicago, or near anywhere; even in the woods. What a waste of life. |

| You really have to wonder what was going through this guys head, that by shooting this many people or even one person for any matter,
that this would resolve his problems and maybe he could go back to the treestand that he was sitting in? Seriously, I think when you get your deer license you should
have to go through a sanity test.
Every year you hear of accidents in the woods: heart attacks, falling from your stand, ACCIDENTAL shootings, but now you have to think about some guy going
crazy on your private land. And to think these poor guys didn't even know they had it coming.
The cops should turn this guy over to a shooting range!!!
My deepest sympathies for those involved, as for there is no replacement for their losses. |

If I ever had to confront tresspassers again, you can bet that I will have gun in hand. If I had in fact been shot, Lori and Justin would not have dialed 911. They would have dialed .357! |

The Animal that Murdered my niece is still sitting on Death Row here in ILL. as of now it looks like it will be at least another 10-15 years before he meets the ultimate judge
I just hope I'm still around to see him off on his way
Prayers for the Victims, Families & freinds

| JP,
That happened about 12 miles from our house in Sawyer County. I'm here in Chicago and it pops up on the news yesterday and I got a real sick feeling. The guy's in the woods with an assault rifle hunting deer?
I've heard he's ex-military of Laos & the US and I've also heard he's a Hmong refugee. Not sure how that all adds up? He was from the Twin Cities and we're a good 2.5 hours away so it wasn't like he just wandered over. He ran them all down and shot them until he ran out of ammo.
Each year we see more and more strange stuff at Thanksgiving/deer season. We've been replacing No Trespassing signs and chasing guys off our 40 acres for 25 years. Next time someone goes walking past the living room window knowingly trespassing, it'll be hard not to fire a warning shot from the window instead of asking politely to get the hell off our land.
This is a real mess and my heart goes out to all of the families involved. Still haven't heard exactly who died, but a sixth victim passed away tonite. We'll keep them all in our prayers. |

Location: Manawa Wiscowsin | Wisconsin does not have the death penalty. INHO it should!
The appeals process should be limited. Waiting 15 years is absurd!
If you're a member of the ACLU don't read the next line;
According to the Bible, rapists and murderers, are to receive the death penalty! |

Location: Chicago, Beverly | Had some steel shot sent my way on sunday... shot landing about 15-20 yards from the boat... wasn't even close enough to the guys blind for him to be doing that.. heck, the blind was facing south-east and I was fishing to the north-west of him a couple hundred yards away(about 200 at least).... Plus, not a duck on the entire lake that he coulda been shooting at(besides the two sitting ducks in the boat)... this type of crap just ain't cool... at the time I didn't think way too much of it.. just was real pissed at him... didn't think it worth calling the con cops until today after hearing about what happened in wisconsin.. afterall.. I was thinking sunday that maybe 200 yards away from the blind might be too close(never had trouble before that close...as a matter of fact the last time I was that close the guys offered us some hot coffee if we wanted to pull up to shore..and I don't get any closer then that unless I have to, like going into/out of channels and them being right by the channels..and even then never had a problem.. ) I feel sorry for the families of the people.... cryin' shame the cops didn't just kill the sob when they got him... |

| My heart and prayers go out to the people in the hospital and their family and friends. You just have to wonder what was going through that guys head, how screwed up he had to be. I got a call from my buddy today and I guess he worked with the shooter over two years ago for about six months. From what my friend said about him was he seemed normal to him, except he told me the guy was caught with 115 sunfish and crappies on Minnetonka. It just sad that so many peoples lives will be changed forever because that sob didn't just use his head and think about what he was doing. For things like this you wish there was a death penalty. |

Location: Home of the 2016 World Series Champion Cubs | I often fish the Sawyer county lakes and have many friends there. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this heinous act. Hopfully the survivors and the families of those no longer with us will quickly be granted peace. I dont undertsand how/why this guy made it out of the woods alive. There were enough people shot and or killed by this lunatic to justify the use of lethal force by ANYONE in this guy's range to defend the lives of those in the area he was shooting at any time during the spree. I just think its sad that he was not neutralized, for lack of a better term, before the number of victims escalated.
