Location: Suspended | The other day there was a large amount of sediment floating on my local lake in New Jersey pictured below with a leaf for scale. It looks like pollen and is very powder-like, as you drive the boat by it disperses like a powder. I thought turnover had passed and the water is 48 degrees and has been for a week or so, so I don't think that's it. But there also doesn't seem to be any pollen types that show up on any allergen maps this time of year. Algea is the other possibility but I thought it was too cold for that. Someone mentioned possibly from pine trees but I don't know. Any thoughts?

This stuff is particulate dispersion from the many chimneys in the state. Uhm, don't drink the water. If you look very closely you can see a two headed fish under the leaf. Oooohhhwweeeeee, sure glad I don't live there.  |

Is this pollen or other smegma?
