Fished Webster Yesterday with Clients Nick and Joe from New Lenox.
Water temps were 45.6 on main lake and down to 42.3 in the shallows.
We found bait fish down deep on the main lake and worked them ALL day.

Caught 5 fish for the day and lost one on a sucker.
4 of the 5 came on Fuzzy Duzzits and one on a sucker.
All fish were small in the lower 30's and the sucker fish was 38 1/2"

We didn't see any follows because we jigged "ALL DAY".
It's a boring hard way to fish (your arms and back pay a big price) but we caught 5 fish for the day. The fish were not BIG by any means but any time you can put 5 Muskies in the boat in one day, you had a good day on the water.

Here are the pic's:

I would say 5 fish days this time of year is great. Can't really help the size but that is a ton of action. I just started using the fuzzy duzzit and had a fish on but it came unbuttoned. How are you working these baits? I am basically ripping it up and letting it sink back to bottom. Is that correct or should I be doing something different? thanks for any input.

Congrats on your action and your fish for the day! Good day!

I didn't get to fish nearly as much as I had hoped this past weekend. I got hung up with mulching tree limbs and raking leaves and closing up the cabins instead of fishing much. Never did take the time to go and get any suckers to put in the water either.

In the short time I fished...I did manage one measely 32" fish in the boat...and seven other follows. One of those follows was a big girl...that came to the boat and I nearly soiled my shorts. I did biiig 'ol circles and figure 8s for a while...but nothing came of it.

Beautiful weekend to be on the water though! Had ice on my eyelets both mornings early in the morning and had a crankbait freeze to the side of the boat!

I made it out for an hour and a half and was all set to get skunked again but then managed a 35" to save the day. It felt good to catch one again since my last few trips I couldn't even manage a follow.

Congrats on the 5 fish day! I was only able to muster 3 hours on the 49 degree water late today (and none yesterday) but it did pay off well. Within a few minutes of hittin' the h2o a near fifty came up quickly but turned as he saw the boat and did not come back. At the end of the first hour after seeing no more two of my sucker lines went off at once--one was a 6 inch sucker and the other a 16 incher. I picked up the larger one first on a quick stike and nailed it but missed the fish. The smaller sucker and circle hook combo now had a few mins to work the fish so I teased in that one--46.5 fattie!! Kept her in the water--no net, no pic, unscathed fish--watched her swim off hard--beautiful fish. Both fish hit in about 9 feet of water. Stayed shallow but saw nothing till after dark. At 6pm I BARELY was able to spot a light shadow following my ten inch bait so I quickly converted to a fig eight--around and around it went and about ten fig 8's later it hit--chunky but male looking 40! It was getting pretty chilly (and dark!)at this pt so after a few more casts I went back to put away my suckers. As I made my way to the back I heard my sucker line go tick-----tick----tick---the line was going out ever so slowly. I picked it up, clicked it in and wallah about 50 feet off the boat I noticed a tail working the surface---a nice beefy 35! All three fish were water released, not netted, and swam off very strong!! I'm limiting my pics now to the 50 & over club unless I have a friend in the boat that really wants one for himself. For the most part I'm not netting them either--seems to be MUCH LESS stressful to the fish! Think about it. Maybe even try it! Keep 'em wet N horizontal!

Spoke w/ Ye olde today as well--see my post under the baits shops topic--they've agreed to eliminate the wall of death and promote CPR! Lets all kindly promote this with them and help best we can while in the shop to teach others there about the same. Maybe we can start something!

Was in Ye old saturday before closing.. not a single "death type pic" to be seen... all pics were obviously taken in boats.. must have taken them down during the day saturday....

Didn't catch anything all weekend... but must have had over 20 follows in the two days between me and Muskyboy...

When I work the Fuzzy, I try and work it at the depth that I'm marking bait fish.
If I'm marking fish on the bottom I will drop it down to the bottom and then reel it in a couple of cranks and start jigging. The most important part is to CONTROL the bait on the way up as well as on the way down. DON'T JUST LET IT SINK REAL FAST............LET IT DOWN SLOW AND CONTROL THE BAIT AT ALL TIMES. The fish will hit on the uprise as well as on the way down so you have to be ready at all times. I don't rip it real fast either, just a controled up and down.
Like I said, it's not the most fun way to fish but it does put fish in the boat.

Thanks Ralph. I had the hit on the drop and not controlling the drop cost me a decent hookset. I'll be sure to change depth. Exactly like ice fishing a swedish pimple, which isn't too far away.
