I know, boring old post. Everyone's seen 'em. But c'mon folks, enlighten me. Please??? Just wondering what people's favorite topwater baits are and why. I've got a couple TRs that have a unique sound that often see playing time. I'm determined to stick a pig on a Pacemaker though. Any fans of the Awakers? I've also got a Phat Boy that has a small bite size profile and is super easy to work in place that sees action. Thoughts?

In addition to the ones that mike mentioned, I like the two topwater baits from H20 tackle. I also like the short fat one that hawaiisbest60 made and sold on ebay.

Magnum Lowriders, Lowriders, Super Topraiders, Topraiders, and of course recently Ty's Pacemaker and Team Musky Nut's Weagle! I have an H20 from the Kly Auction on the way, so that may soon be a favorite.

Dog Turd. Weagle second, Topraider thrid, Awaker and Topper Stopper fourth. beav, this old bait is STILL yours;sir. I made the thing in 1981, I think. It has so many fish from 48" up to it's credit it's amazing it's still in one piece.

I really like the Awaker, but one has to 'fix' it or it'll hang up on itself alot during the cast.

Take a look at some of Lee Tauchen's baits. ("Lee Lures" also known as Top H20 tackle). He makes the CHOPPER (tail bait) which is the loudest tail bait out there guaranteed. Very similar to the old Le Lure thumper but better constructed and 1/2" shorter. He also makes the TOP H2O which is similar to a hawg wobbler, WHOPPER POPPER which is similar to a topper stopper but slightly larger, and my favorite the FISH STICK which is a walk the dog style bait with three hooks which greatly ups your hooking percentages. This bait is very easy to use compared to other walk the dog style baits. Also, under construction for 05' is the DOUBLE CHOPPER. (should be pretty loud) These lures are available at Rollie and Helen's, D+S bait and tackle, and Smokey's. Also gotta love the new BS Willie. A friend of mine lost a mid to upper 50's on this bait up in Canada with us this summer.

Right now it's the Viper for me. I appoxied the weight hole closed so water does'nt get in and it stays up pretty nicely. The viper moves water and moves through the water with its @ss low making hooksets easy. I have to say that I fished the Weagle at the Kly outting and I have a feeling that I'll be changing my favorite top water by early next season. Amazing bait. I cannot believe how much water it moves.

Without a doubt its the Top Raider. The bait is very tough, I had one I caught over 50 fish on before it was retired, it is a great hooker, and it flat out catches fish. I also like the Awaker. Before the Top Raider came out the Awaker was my go to topwater.

I aboslutely love The RECON that Roger Watters from H20 lures has now perfected. Its a walk the dog type lure that rides low in the back and moves a lot of water with little effort. Heres a NOV 04 fish that liked it,even with a 40 degree water temp. Hope I can get the pick to upload

I throw the crap out of an old Thunderhead, Weagles get their share of time, and that coot topraider has landed lots o fish, Jackpots are so easy to work, I guess I need to have four baits as favorites!!

Did my brother just say the "J" word?LMAO, no wait, ROFLMAO.Of course, JAL is my fav, but I won't leave the dock without a few topraiders and the new fav, the Giant Kry-Ba-Be.Rediscovered globes again this year.Oh yeah, can't forget the LOW Rider. They all catch fish, but the triggering qualities/capabilities of the Weagle make it my #1. Topraider - It's the only surface bait I've caught a muskie on. Hooks well and you can fish it slow to medium speeds.

Where can Joel Wick's Creeper be purchased? I am a huge creeper fan. How does Joel's compare to the Le Lure?

Hello,

You can contact Joel at [email protected] If you can't get through let me know and I can pass his phone number along to you. Joel doesn't mass produce baits. Joel only makes 100-200 baits a year. The waiting list is quite long. If you want to know more specifics message me and we can talk at length.

With out a doubt, Frenchy La May's Le Lures. The casting placement and the true wood sound and toughness of his baits are the best.

My fav is the Tally Wacker....but it needs to modified...check out my site...it has produced the most for me...second Toper STopper.

I also throw H2O Tackle topwater a bunch and TR makes top waters that are based on Frenchy's stuff, design help by Rody Brekke himself, and a lot better then the old stuf. IF anyone knows his topwater it's old Rody.

Can't forget the Weagle...sure has produced for many I know....just haven't got it down yet I guess.

I got bit HARD today by Dick Pearson's DVD with all the surface bait action. Unbelievable. I was screaming like a little girl at some of the wakes those fish were kicking up behind his stuff. The best, though, was that 50"+ that follows his TR to the boat, goes around once in the figure 8, then WHAM, nails that some *#^%. Then it just kind of wallows around it's so big. Unbelievable. I'm purging my box to make it 100% topwater (not really, but I've got it bad).

I have a cisco kid topper in OLD firetiger that has seen more muskies then I could count, oddly, I think its lost its touch, there is something about the sound on this one cause I have bought others, but none are the same.
Also a jackpot, I just wish fish could hit it a little more accurately.

2) black & orange Topraider - producer, not so subtle ;}
3) Jackpot - great search bait [so-so hookup's]
