We witnessed a 37" fish caught in about 5FOW on the east side of the sand bar between Catherine and Channel. Appeared to be a small twitch bait. I believe if the sun is strong you will find fish warming up on that sand mid-day.

Thanks LC and congrats again on the tourney. Doesn't look like the sun will be warming much but thats ok with me. Bring on the cold, new moon and fat girls.

Thanks Musky Mike. I went out Yesterday, 11-11. Winds were strong nne and water temp was in the mid to upper 40's. Threw phantom, bulldog, and worked a fuzzy duzzit most of the day.Had a fish on briefly on the fuzzy duzzit. Had one sucker taken on bluff but came up empty on the hookset. Enountered trolling motor problems (see boats and motors forum ) Been a great year on the chain but lately i just plain stink. Fishless last 4 outings.Partner didn't want to troll and he doesn't get out much so I obeyed his wishes. Water clarity excellent, even in heavy chop. Good green weeds on Catherine. Weeds on Channel starting to break down some. Marking tons of bait in 16ft and that is where we saw action. Good luck to all this weekend. It's yard work time. hj

Draggin meat and casting Dawgs and raiders....... not a follow... I am beginning to think there was only 1 fish in the Fox Chain ... the one the other guy 's caught? Has it really been a good year on the chain. .. I heard of 1, 50 incher on Marie that's it.... I had better luck at Shabbona and Evergreen all year.....

Mike,
It really has been a great year on the chain or should I say for the chain. I have heard of 4 fish caught over 50 inches. I have caught several myself over 40 and there was a window in July that we were having multiple fish outings everytime out. Me and the chain don't get along very well in fall. It is a tough nut to crack during drawdown. Your results from yesterday sound pretty similar to the results I have gotten lately.

I fish it in the summer on weekdays if at all possible. If not I fish from about 3 am until 8 am or after 7pm. If you are caught on a weekend day try trolling as I have found that the trolling bite actually picks up with heavy boat traffic. Good luck the rest of the year Mike. hj
