Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | While I was out on the road last week I received my new Power Catch coated muskie net from Frabill. The net featues one of the most innovative ideas I have seen in a very long time on a muskie net, the Pow'R Lock Yoke. As the handle slides through and the lock button contacts the Pow'R Lock, it depresses the button and then locks it without touching the button or the yoke. This is a true one-hand-to-deploy net, and is WAY faster to get to the ready than any net I've ever owned. Mr. Gostisha, sir, Frabill has done it again; this is cool!

Location: Minneapolis, MN | I saw that net in July when Mark had a prototype of that net on LOTW this summer. Did you notice they also changed the design of the hoop to make it stronger? Great improvements to a great net!

Location: Land O' Lakes WI | Steve,
Thanks for the great photos of the yoke system. This is a patent pending design that REALLY simplifies an anglers life. The yoke and the new hoop are new and the handle is also a new shape as well. All designed for strength and ease of use. The yoke AND the hoop STILL have a lifetime warranty the the previous PowerCatch nets.
We had the Musky versions of the PowerCatch nets being tested by a lot of the Frabill musky pro's all summer. Pete Maina, Doug Johnson, Dick Pearson, Jim Saric, Steve Heiting, Tony Grant, Chad Cain, Bill Sandy and I know I am missing several guys and mean no harm. All nets worked remarkable well.
We also had the PowerCatch product in different versions tested in saltwater and it performed flawlessly on high numbers of tuna up to 75-80#, Cobia over 100#, and up in Alaska on salmon up to 60# or so. There were several Great Lakes charter boats that each put well over 3000 salmon in the nets. These fish probably averaged 12-15 pounds but 20-25 pounders were not uncommon this year. This is the same frame as the musky nets, just different netting for each application.
The new and improved version should be on our web site by about the 15th of November for thse anglers that want to see more. The nets are starting to show up at retail now. We have sold the product at several distributor shows where the dealers buy their product. Their orders may be hitting their shelves now or in the next 30 days. We will have booths at most of the major musky and walleye shows this spring for anglers that want to touch and feel the product before they buy!
I hope this answers the questions. Thanks again Steve for the great pictures!

| Mark, I must agree that the new yoke system is awesome. Easy to deploy. Stong. No fishing for the hole, and the bag itself is also top notch.
From a guy who fishes alone alot....insert wisecracks here.....I've gotta say that it will be easy to work with.
You guys have done it again.
I'd comment about the new walleye net with the telescoping handle and the new bag, but this is the wrong forum.
Thanks,
Beav |

Location: Land O' Lakes WI | Gerard,
They are getting their first field test as we speak in northern Canada.
In order to cold test the product this summer we put the yokes in a deep freeze (-10f) with 2' of handle and about 2' of hoop coming out of each side of the yoke. We would clamp it in a vise right out of the freezer and beat on the extended handle and hoop, using the length of material as an extnded lever that amplified the blows of a 48 oz maul. As you can imagine the hoop and handle materials looked like hell but the yoke was indestructable, and still looked like new.
We then wanted to test the product closer to real life circumstances. There were also temperature swing tests where warm/hot yokes were put plunged into cold water and then beat on 2' sectons of hoop and handle materail with the maul. Then the tests were reversed, where ice cold yokes were plunged into warm water and beat on. This should show (in extreme temp swings) how an air temp yoke going into either warm or cold water would perform. All yokes came through in perfect shape. We still back the yoke AND the hoop with a lifetime warranty!
We do have quite a pile of 2' sections of hoop and handle material that look like they were beat up with a maul,,,,
Happy to answer your questions Gerard,

Location: Eau Claire, WI | I got to put a fish in my new PowR-Lok this weekend and was it ever SWEEEEET to use... The handle deploys so fast it's amazing, darn near like a switchblade.
For those who fish in boats with limited interior room a new model Big Game is just what the doctor ordered...
Awesome... |
