Location: Algonquin, ILL | I heard from a very reliable source that starting Jan 1 2005 a Passport will be required for all U.S. citizens entering Canada.
Has any one else heard this?

| I always have mine, but then I don't have a driver's license due to my tunnel vision. I never had to show it going into Canada, but had to coming back into the States.
I have not heard about this, maybe some resort owner can chime in on this? |

Location: north central wisconsin | This summer, at the border, my friend erik was told to go to the truck and get his drivers license after he presented his passport. The driverslicense will reveal more info. for them in deciding whether to admit you or not. |

Location: Algonquin, ILL | I understand that in most cases CURRENTLY that a Drivers License will do, but I have a contact who works for a Passport / Visa service in Chicago and he passed along some information he received that the Canadian Gov is considering a Passport be required for entry starting in January 2005.
I did some digging and found this at http://avschicago.com/
"EARLY WARNING: It is our understanding that as of January 1, 2005 Canada will require all US citizens to have a passport in order to enter. We have not received a confirmation from the Canadian Embassy yet regarding this change but we will update this site as soon as we have definite confirmation."
