Location: Wayzata, MN | I was having a beer with some guys I haven't seen in years. While talking about fishing, this story came up. Enjoy.
This is absolutely a true story.
This happened some years ago. Friends of mine used to own a cabin in Wisconsin on some musky waters. That cabin was generally a very, very quiet place to be...
One weekend, one of the brothers was out casting for muskies while two other brothers were sitting on a bench, relaxing on shore. The two on shore were a little annoyed at what seemed to be a noisy family reunion going on across the water from their cabin.
After watching the ruckus over there, they started to ignore the noise and began talking about what to do during their weekend. As they were discussing their options, they heard some loud screaming and looked over at the crowd across the water. Many of the people were pointing at the water, yelling and waving hysterically.
The brother that was fishing happened to putt by at this time, so the two brothers on shore yelled at him to go over and see what was going on...
The brother in the boat drove over near the dock and yelled to shore "Hey... what happened?"
The people on shore excitedly told him that their toy poodle was just playing, repeatedly running down the dock, jumping into the water, swimming back to shore and having a grand old time. But a minute ago, something grabbed it and it hasn't come back up!...
The brother in the boat, straight faced, asked while leaning down and grabbing his musky rod "What color was the dog?"
The people on shore started throwing stuff at him...
We all got musky fever that year.............................. |

Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | If I remember right, Al Lindner used that identical story as a lead in for a musky segment on the In-Fisherman back in the 80's. While it is a great story I would be a bit skeptical as to the absolutely true disclaimer. |

| A fable - not a lie. That In-Fisherman poodle segment is my all-time fav. Stange was so straight faced when he asked what color the dog was really cracked me up. The dog's name was Fluffy.

Location: Roscoe IL | Isn't that the same video that Al pulls a 45mag off of the shelf? " In Fishermans Greatest Muskie Video Ever Made"
I sure love these videos, what entertainment on a cold winter day hanging out with friends, making leaders, sharpining hooks and watching Al and the gang catching muskies.
I have to admit, the Badfish Outdoors "Muskie Madness" is my new fave, looking forward to VOL 2!

"The Greatest Musky Film Ever Made"
Maple Grove Gander Mountain has the Badfish videos. I think 101 sells them online as well. |

Location: lansing, il | nothin beats stopping off at the local animal shelter on the way to my favorite musky lake, to pick up a few stray kittens in differnt colors <they are free ya know>. then when getting to good spot throw them out in the lake see which colors get eaten and start chuckin same colored baits. sure fire formula to put more fish in the boat!!! |
