Well I have talked to alot of guys who fish musky and they are in so many different clubs. I am thinking about joining a musky club. Which one should I join or should I not join one. What benefits do I get joining a club. What benefits do musky get, lakes get ect. Is there any I should avoid. I live in Matteson, Illinois and fish mostly in Indiana and Michingan for musky. Fish some in Illinois but with my new boat the HP restrictions kill some of them. I would like to get involved ASAP if I am going to do it......

Thanks,

Just my 2 cents....................
I personally like the club that I belong to. I have met some great people, and pretty much everyone in the club is willing to share info, much like this site. There may be some clubs that aren't as good as the one I belong to, but the only way to find out is to attend a meeting. Bait swaps, outings, guest speakers, bait raffles and banquets are good things. Good luck!

PGA, you are closest to the shouth side musky hawks MI club and there is another one down that way not affiliated with MI. There are several muakiefirsters that goto the south side meetings, inlcluding myself and afterwards a couple of us goto a really "nice" place to eat afterwards.

I've been to a few meetings and several of the annual events held by the Southside Musky Hawks. They are a great bunch of people. Do yourself a favor and go to a meeting or two. I don't think anyone will hold a gun to your head to join (well maybe there's a couple guys I can think of who would). That would give you a chance to check it out before making a commitment.

Southside Muskie Hawks are a great bunch of guys. I've had the opportunity to speak to them, and had a blast. They seem very intentional about getting the new guys involved. Give em' a shot!!

Attend the meetings and see which club you like the best. Our FRV MI club meets in Hoffman Estates, where I live, so that makes it easy to attend the meetings. It is great to meet other people who like to fish the areas you also like to fish. Also many great fund raising activities that go back into the club and musky stocking efforts.

PGA,

Since you fish mostly in Indiana and Michigan. Wouldn't it make sense to join one of their Muskies Inc. clubs? It would be a great way for you to give back to the fisheries you fish thru club restocking efforts. Just my 2 pennies.
