How do you know that turnover has occured??
What are some tell tale signs??

By me I can tell by the murky tea colored water with alot of floaters, the white foamy crap and a ton of floating weeds around the edges of the lake. But I always check my surface temp gauge, usually when I see these conditions and my temp reads below 52-53ยบ I'm in turnover....just the way it seems to happen every year.

Surface temps in the mid to high fifties-sometimes an odor(not pleasant)-dead rotted floating weeds(up from the bottom)-darker water than normal-mostly tough fishing

Also look for the disappearance of Algae. Last week on Lake of the woods there was a tone of Alae, this weekend it was all gone. Water temp was at 54.
