Location: Stevens Point, WI | My new Tuffy has a 2004 Johnson 90 hp 2-stroke motor. The guy I bought it from ran XD-30 oil in it. Is this oil comparable to the synthetics, i.e., cleaner burning better fuel economy, what about cold weather? Thanks for the input. |

Location: Chicago, Beverly | They started making johnson 2 strokes again(just looked at the johnson website, yes they did)? I know for a couple there they only made 4 strokes and the evinrude's were only 2 stroke. Anyways, if its a 2004 I'd look in the owners manual and see what it says. My '95 2 stroke 40hp evinrude I was told not to use the synthetic stuff at all. Maybe the newer motors are different but the mechanic that told me said use the stuff in motors like the E-tec and DFI's only, which I do not think your motor is. I would try and contact johnson direct if you don't have the manual or its not clear enough on what to use: Call them at: (847) 689-7090

Location: Stevens Point, WI | I bought a gallon of Amsoil before I knew what kind of oil to use. I use it in my other boat and it seems to run much smoother with less smoke. |
