What your thoughts on the best time of day in the fall to fish. All season I have been fishing at dawn to noon. I am seeing fewer and fewer fish. Was thinking later in the day till dark might be better as it would give the water a chance to warn up a bit and get the fish moving.

Thoughts?

It really all depends on your local weather. I am a firm believer, as well as many others, that during the summer period, early morning and before sunset are the most productive, but when it comes to fall fishing those times are not the only most productive times.

In the fall, more clouds, more wind, more rain, more weather in general is usually present, along with colder temps. This allows for better fishing throughout the day, and not just at key times like sunup and sundown.

In the fall, I truely believe that the entire day is good. You are not getting those high temps (90 degrees) during the afternoon to drag you and the fishing down. In fact there are many times when the morning starts off slow and action picks up once the sun comes out and warms the water a few degrees.

The fall is great for many reasons, but one of the biggest and best reasons is because the entire day is good to nail a hawg, not just the low light hours.

I pay attention to when the Solunar Majors and Minors are. Of the 20 fish I have caught this summer only 1 was not around a solunar event. The most important thing, in my opinion, is weather. Changing barometric pressure, either up or down always seems to get them going.
BOTTOM LINE IS THIS, AND I HAVE SEEN IT MANY TIMES ON THIS BOARD . . . THE BEST TIMES TO FISH ARE WHENEVER YOU CAN GET OUT ON THE WATER.

In my humble opinion )lol( the very best time to be on the water is when the bite is on!!! Mike is right, in the fall they can turn on at anytime. When it gets colder out they often bite in the late afternoon best but I've known guys that catch them before and at dawn in Nov and I've caught a bunch around and after dusk so one never knows! Certainly solar and lunar events can add to the fun. Even a bad day on the water beats a day in the office!
