Seems like everything comes full circle.Just want to let all know that I've accepted a position(hate the word job) with Thorne Bros. and will be moving to the Cities within a month.Good thing I travel light.I'm really excited to be getting back in the fishing industry and excited to be working with the great guys (you too Katie) there.Been buying stuff there for over 20 years and the thing that's always impressed me was/is the customer service.I'm committed to carry on the tradition laid by some great people and incredible sticks.Time to move on and start a new life in a strange land. Not a whole lot of traffic here in Cedar Rapids.Even though I'll be living in Minnesota, I will ALWAYS be a Bear fan!Oh, and if anyone knows of some lodging options, please let me know.I've got the Midge on the job as we speak. So long Iowa. It's been Real.Real what?I don't know yet. Steve, Congratulations joining the most awesome musky shop. MN musky fishing is top notch and you have so many good sticks in and around the Twin Cities.

Escape from LA was a good movie, how about coming up with your own Escape from Cedar Rapids short film?

Steve,
I thought of going on Oprah but then reconsidered after realizing I wouldn't really be targeting my preferred demographic.I think I'll write a book instead.ALTHOUGH,I may be able to get John Goodman or Danny Bonaduce to play me in the movie version.Soooo many decisions to make, so little time. Jonesi,

There are a couple decent houses for sale about 2 blocks away from me. What type of accomidations are you looking for? It would be a 15 minute drive to Thorne's, and it would be a 2 minute walk to the "Tuff-line, Tica, Jiffy, Bagley, and other products" rep who lives across the street from me. Welcome to the Twin Cities.

Congrats! I suppose this means I will be seeing you more often in the shop.
Sure was wierd to walk in and see you there on Tuesday.

Good luck with the house hunting, VERY easy to find one you like, just hard to find one you can
afford. If you are interested in looking around the Anoka/Coon Rapids/Ramsey area let me know. 15-20 minute drive to the shop.

Congrats again!

Was 1/2 of a partnership that tried to purchase Thorne Bros. when Paul and Greg sold in the early 90's. Couldn't quite swing it & still wish we could have. Good outfitt and I'm sure you will enjoy it . Bit of advice if you have work the sport shows, wear two pair of cotton socks to save your feet. After going thru numerous Dr. Shoals etc. two pair of socks work best. If you don't believe me ask Chip Lear. He knows. Good luck (By the way I now live on the Iowa border-haha)

CONGRATS ON MOVING TO PIGVILLE!! Iowa or MN....not a tough choice...I was born in Iowa and I should know! (cedar Rapids to be exact!). The thought if having all those awesome lakes that close versus Iowa...I think I would pee myself!

See ya working the circuit this winter Steve!!!!!

Oh yeah, Steve if you bought a house near me, you would have 7 lakes with muskies (4 pure strain, 3 tigers) within about 15 minutes of driving.

So are you doing this gig for money of for "store credits".

Congratulations Steve, Thorne's will be a much better place with you around. I can't think of a more perfect match for either side.

If you don't get this way soon (I could probably arrange an empty spot in the boat for you), I will surely see you in Chicago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steve,
Awesome!

But lets forget about all of the great fishing. Mpls has so much more to offer.
Namely. Baked goods !! I know how much you appreciate a good chocolate old fashioned . Drop me a line and I'll share all of the hot doughnut spots with you. Well most of of them. Professional Doughnuteers , like muskie fisherman , don't always share all of their secret spots.
Congrats,
Joe

LOL
Seems to be liitle they need done?
LOL
Maybe get Matt and Bret Lunch!
Shovel the LOT.
Send me FREE stuff on the Sly?
: )

I wanted to worked there since they opened way back when.
Guess I simply don't fit.
Hair is to long, among other things.
Way to much LIFE experience, 17 years sober and ALL the Women customers and Girl Friends of Employees would follow me home.
Wife would not like that on Weekends in the winter.

Good luck.

Welcome to the twin cities, rumors has it that there some 50" swimming in local waters, just be carefull when be a boat b#%&@ with treats, if you think rush hour is bad, wait till your white knuckling it across Tonkaville in the aircraft carrier. Thorne brothers, I have to guess that your tackle collection will definitely see some new friends.

Good luck

Well Steve,

You just cut the Iowa muskie fishing population by 33%.

Good luck in Queensville, you know where to send unaccounted for merchandise!

Good luck, Steve. It sounds like you found a job that you will really enjoy. Don't ask to get off on your first day of work, so that you can go fishing.

If any of you ever go on a trip with Steve Voigt, don't let him buy the groceries. The first year I worked at Thorne's, Steve was on the sportshow crew with us. Chip gave him $100 to get groceries and he came back with ONLY a case of Twinkies and a couple cartons of cigarrettes

Welcome to Thorne's Steve--hope you don't plan on getting a check for a few years. It usually takes that long to buy a couple of everything

Thanks to all. Busy making baits and still getting on the water a bit. Can't wait to get up here for good!Long overdue.Couldn't be happier with the decision.I've got to let everyone know that I've been in treatment for my bait addiction and after a long spring , summer, and fall on the water, I can honestly say I'm cured!!!!!90% of fish on 10% of baits.Kinda like the 80/20 rule in sales.Tools man.Just tools. But of course, have to have the best tool for the job!!!Back to the Shady. Steve,

Congrats on the move and the new employment. Kinda like playing pro sports. You'll be pinching yourself while saying, "They are gonna pay me to do this, too?" hehehe

I'll be moving to WInneconne next week, and in the new house in early December. One more eye tourney Saturday, and then it's fall muskies, all fall! You ready, Jo?

Hey Brett.
How come your using someone else's profile? I heard you have finally figured out how to catch Muskies. Fun isn't it? My feet still hurt from the Chicago Show. When was that 1993? Email me for some pics of Muskies I've caught since then. Might even give you a little advice HAHA. [email protected]
Jonesi- Take Brett's advice with a grain of salt. He's a do as I say not as I do kinda guy. (hell of a salesman and great guy however)
