Who, in your opinion, makes the best custom rods? I have to say that Slamr's rod pictured under the September photo contest looks pretty sweet. It's got me thinking...

I have two custom rods that I use quite a bit. A Fig Rig, and a Franks Custom Rod. Both are great! Frank does an absolutely GREAT job on his rods. I am saving up my pennies to order another one from him.

Esox 50, custom rods are great. get yourself one, you deserve it. I use to have Thorne Bros custom rod, it was awesome. The only other custom rod i have is Grandt. i can only speak for his XLH70 series, that's what i have.

Jim rods are right up there w/ the best of them. He has some customizations that i have only found on his rods. he can built you something that no one else will have. His Tarpon/Musky rods are one in the same...i guess. If you are looking for a power, weight, length that isnt' listed on his website, call/email him and he will build you want want.
100% guarantee for life, no matter what. snap your rod on your tail gate or it your son uses it for a pole vault stick, sent it back w/ shipping funds you get it right back, good as new or a new one.

SOme rod makers can and will paint a rod too, any color you want. w/ painting rods, color wraps, neat guides and a personal signature/message, a custom rod is really fun to fish. you can get a holographic musky on it too.

Grandt also has this trick feather job where he puts feathers on the rods and they look sweet. http://www.grandtrods.com/feather.htm

Esox50, you really can't go wrong w/ custom rod. you can pick what kind of blank you from most/alot of rod makers. you can get one made w/a St Croix Avid Blank, G Loomis, Lamiglas..whatever you want, or makers like Grandt have thier own blanks. you asked for the our opinions for the best, i vote for Grandt.
Get one, you deserve it! they are really fun to have. good luck w/ your shopping and let us know what rod maker you went with and show up a pic when you get her back!
Good luck
