| Sunday was basically the first time I've actually put myself on fish without any guide or highly experience angler making the decisions. I was fishing a lake of which I had no experience on and very minimal info about it. I CPRed a mid 40's fish, missed another, and the buddy who I was with missed a third fish (who had no experience fishing muskies). But, I think that my friend asking how much a quality musky set-up was gonna run him was much more rewarding.

Location: The Sportsman, home, or out on the water | I feel there are many different rewards to Musky fishing. First figure 8 fish, Putting someone on their first fish, first fish on a new technique, etc. The rewards will never stop as long as you keep fishing. My most recent one was this last summer when I met Roger Sabota at the boat launch on Boom, and I caught one fish that day and he didn't. I consider Roger to be one of my Musky fishing idols, and it was satisfying to be able to do that. Congrats on your success, and keep plugging away!

Location: Wayzata, MN | That's great. It's cool when people get the bug!
I'm not a guide or anything, but I know a few lakes pretty well...
This year I've been on a 'mission' to get some friends, family and co-workers hooked on musky fishing. I had the opportunity to put a co-worker on his first ever musky in June. The look on his face was worth it, it made my year [he's hooked].
I have been trying to help another co-worker get his first fish [comparing notes, telling him spots, lures that worked there, etc...], he's been fishing for a few years now without boating a musky. We fish together occasionally after work... it's only a matter of time for him.
I also have plans to take another co-worker, my neighbor and my nephew out this year to 'plant the seed'...
All of them fish, they just haven't had the opportunity to go after musky.
And hey, it's another reason to buy more gear! [grin]....
Way to go! | |

Location: Seymour, WI | I took my neighbor musky fishing this yr. He hadn't been fishing in over a yr and had never fished muskies. The day started with me teaching him how to use a bait caster. ( He brought an ultralight spinning rod which made me giggle)
I had him throwing a big spinnerbait. As the day went on I caught 4 pike and 4 big bass. I could see he was getting frustrated that he hadn't caught anything yet. I was setting up our last drift of the day when he says "I think I got one". Catches a nice 34" muskie which put up a cool fight.
He was all smiles the rest of the day.
