I'm considering sending some baits in for refinishing. Seen some really really nice color combos and patterns by MRG and Durst, hell I'd love to have Beave paint some. My question is this. Does MRG, Durst or others refinish baits by adding a final clear coat? Last thing I want to do is spend money on works of art only to have them scrape off, that's the entire reason for getting them redone to being with!

Or should I plan on clear coating myself with something like enviortex?

MRG finishes them off right. No need to worry about the "purty" washing off. I can't speak about Dursts work - I've never had him do anything for me.

Mr. G-Spot uses a very heavy clear coat. Not quite as thick as Hugh's River baits but pretty close.

I can attest to MRG's paint jobs. They are great and hold up to fish.

Here is a pic of some MRG painted baits. He paints any paint job you want, these were my custom orders.

MRG is first rate in quality and finish. Just put a 52 by 25.5 (see post) 42#er in the boat w/ one of his custom paint jobs Mike did (duplicated from an original) for me. I have trolled the hell out of that bait and put a 48 in the boat w/ the same bait as well and it is holding up beautifully! I put Mike to the test w/ some very difficult crackle and frog patterns that he duplicated with great effort and quality. Can't recommend him enough! Just be patient....it takes awhile.
